Those G-4's and 5's usually only crry a crew of 3. Pilot, co-pilot and flight attendant. They are configured to carry 12 passengers usually.

When you can't think of anything intelligent to say then keep your mouth shut. As a Wise woman once said to me "SHAME on YOU"!

Let me correct myself:
I wonder if the toll booth at least got their $2.00.

I'll say whatever I wish, same as everyone else here. It's called the 1st Amendment. Deal with it.

It's Bush's fault.

There always has to be a wag, Thag, who makes a 'Bush's fault' post. Strangely, in this instance, it kinda sorta is Bush's fault! H.W. the elder, that is. The plane wouldn't have been coming into Hobby, except H.W. had chartered it for a jaunt down to Latin America for a speech.

Interesting thing about this thread...I was perusing the news early this AM and I sometimes do random searches on "plane crash" just in the hopes that none of my hobby pilot friends have killed themselves ...and saw this hugely expensive aircraft go down at Hobby... in stories over the radio and TV news in Houston.

Then I headed to FR to see what would be here...nothing...and nothing on the MSM. A couple of hours went by, and I was bemused at the lack of reportage. This is not a puddle-jumper, but a big deal ride pimped for Big Deal kinds of riders.

So, I posted it, but not in Breaking News. At least, I don't think I posted it in Breaking News. I know how that makes some FReeps mad...

The only thing "tinfoil" about this story is how long it took to be reported, and the startling news that it was connected to GHWBush. That particular piece of info took a very long time in coming.

My prediction is definitely pilot error. The only other possibility is equipment failure, which will be determined via black box or Tower/TRACON audio tape transcripts.

I think you would be wise to read the 1st amendment very carefully, again, if you have ever bothered to read it, and absorb it this time.

You do NOT have the right to freedom of speech.

You have the right to freedom of speech without interference/retaliation from the feds.

Interference/legal retaliation from anyone else is cool, dumba$$.

It has been reported on cbs radio news, that this plane was scheduled to fly George H. W. Bush to Equador today.

Disturbing late-to-report information bump.

I heard that as well about the GHW Bush plane.

Is there anything in the article that makes you suspicious?

I heard that the wings clipped something and that's why it went down. They doesn't raise any alarms in my alert system. Sounds like an accident.

Horrible tragedy. Right now, we have a severe weather problem. Heavy rain up to 19 inches, flooding, and tornados. We had just a power outage.

I am about ready to hit the "on/off" mode selector switch with this rain stuff...

A certain storm about 3 years ago still brings a bit of edgyness to casa Steve...We got about 2 feet, twice that week...

We're two blocks off of the infamous Beamer drainage ditch in S.E. Houston...

Interesting thought just popped into the noggin...

I drove down Beltway 8 recently, and recalling the transmission easement to the south of the tollroad, and its size and altitude of those spans of high voltage lines...It occured to me that in some way, some strange twist of fate was involved in the accident itself...

Considering the height of the light standard that was struck by the aircraft which was about 75 feet, and that pictures showed the standard to have been struck about 1/3 the way down from the top...Making the initial impact at approximately 50 feet, thus the breakup and impact on the ground just to the north of the tollroad...

Since we do not have any evidence to show any damage to those transmission lines, or any outages due to any possible accident to the lines...

I have to float out there an interesting point...And maybe one that is not that big a deal, but if you can imagine it, or can take a look sometime at the crash site...I would have to speculate that the pilot unintentionally flew under the high-voltage transmission line spans, then struck the light standard near the toll plaza...

Long-winded, I know...But just something I thought to be interesting...And may come out in the investigation...Who knows...

I suppose that's possible. They probably saw the light pole when it was too late to do anything.

The beltway looks further than 1-1/2 miles from Rwy 4 (or in any direction from Hobby) on maps.

Guess we'll have to wait for the NTSB report. (Shrug)
