White House officials did not say much about the Chilean hospitality, but one aide ventured a prediction: Lagos need not watch his mail for an invitation to Bush's ranch.
Ouch. :)

" I've seen a lot of John Wayne movies, and President Bush was definitely acting like a cowboy."
And it's a damn good thing too!

"All of us journalists agree that President Bush looked like a cowboy. It was total breach of protocol. I've seen a lot of John Wayne movies, and President Bush was definitely acting like a cowboy." And this is supposed to be a bad thing?

I posted here earlier today that there was more to this story than what's been reported about it. I won't go into any details, but Chilean and U.S. security personnel have been involved in a p!ssing match of sorts for the last few months, and this was just the latest episode.

I HOPE that's all that there was to this,a nd this wasn't a "probing" to see where the President's security detail is weak...

I thought it showed President Bush to be a fine man. He was concerned about the safety of his agent. What should have done? Left the agent there??? He has more class and common courtesy than that!
Go get 'em Cowboy!!

Isn't it stupid? That's all they can come up with. President Bush acts like a cowboy. What's wrong the John Wayne image? John Wayne was a real man. He had self-confidence. Nobody could intimidate him. What in the world is wrong with that?
Europeans are simpering little wussies.

What would've been Kerry's response to something like this? 'Arrest him, the son of a b1+ch bumped into me! I never fall down'!

Anyone who uses Cowboy as an insult is really, really confused.
That was a good article, thanks for posting it.
I think wrestling experience should count for something for secret service agents.

Well when the President can't even get his own security people in...

Little things; big things.
GW is what he is at all times and in all things. A leader who can bell the cat.....then take it down with a choke-hold.
Thank God.

They say he looked like a cowboy like that's a bad thing! I love cowboys!
I'd also seen on other threads about this that not all of the news articles out of Chile and elsewhere were so critical of President Bush. I guess it's just the leftist ones.

Trotta walked in behind Bush, who looked enormously pleased with himself. He was wearing the expression that some critics call a smirk...Bush adjusted his right cufflink...muttered something to Lagos, took the first lady's arm and headed into dinner...LOL! Gotta love our Dubya.
Earth to Chile -- we Americans love our cowboys, especially ones from Texas who can be compared favorably to John Wayne.

In my book, the "breach of protocol" was committed by the Chilean security personnel who failed to let our President's bodyguard in.
To: anymouse
Bush, with his right hand, reached over the suits and pointed insistently at Trotta. At first the officials, with their backs to him and their heads in the rumble, did not realize it was the president intervening. Bush then braced himself against someone and lunged to retrieve the agent, who was still arguing with the Chileans. The shocked Chilean officials then released Trotta.
Cool Hand W! I love it.
