HUNTER GOES BERZERK IN WISCONSIN; AT LEAST FIVE DEAD
Drudge Report ^

Posted on 11/21/2004 4:15:12 PM PST by Jotmo

EXELAND, Wis. - Five people are dead and three injured in a shooting incident that apparently began over a hunting dispute in western Wisconsin.

The confrontation began around noon in a rural area southwestern Sawyer County. Authorities said a hunting party returning to their deer shack reported seeing a hunter unknown to them occupying their tree stand. That led to a shooting.

One of the shooting victims used a walkie talkie to radio back to the deer shack for help. When the victim's hunting partners came to the scene, they were also shot.

Sawyer County was in a virtual lockdown as authorities searched for the gunman. One suspect was eventually taken into custody around 5:15 p.m.

The suspect's name has not been released.

Officials at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake said they have treated at least three gunshot victims. They said one of the victims was transported to a hospital in Marshfield, WI. Another victim is in critical condition and is undergoing surgery. The third victim is in fair condition in the intensive care unit.

Something is bothering me about this. Think back to the early reports. The perp was seen on the property early in the morning and told to leave. Later he is seen in the tree stand. Why has all mention of the first sighting been surpressed?

I didn't see that report. If true, that's when you call the Sheriff and tell him you have a trespasser that refuses to leave (don't need to imply a threat, though you could). They'll respond. If that's true, responding to the initial report of gunshot wounds, unarmed, was perhaps naive. But I think you're right that this line of thinking is about blaming the victim.

My guess this guy will be cleaning the washrooms at Portage too. One of the risks of a non-death penalty state.

My question for the world is very simple: How would this incident be treated if the races were reversed -- if a white hunter wiped out a group of Asians?

$2.5 million bond. He'd end up in the same place. I don't think race is an issue, other than to the defense.

Environmentalists and animal rights activists are still silent. Why?

Anti-white racism. Every other culture -- Hmong, Eskimo, Apache, Zulu, etc -- has a right to hunt and fish and even poach, because "it's their culture". But the liberals can't stand it when white people ("rednecks") practice their own culture, which among other things has a 40,000 year old tradition of hunting.

As it is, it appears to me that a very small segment of the FR population is monitoring this story as closely as the small group we are conversing with here. I would assume that the FR population is more supportive of the Second Amendment than the general population.

And altho I don't think they'll be able to pull it off, I fully expect a group of fanatics to try to pull the Second Amendment over this. It's going to get ugly.

Whether he left and came back or was confronted only once, I'm not sure anymore. The thing that stands out in my mind is if he was truly lost and trying to find his way back, I would think they would have been helpful.

But it sounds like he was being stubborn about leaving or didn't like the fact he was being told to leave, maybe there were words because of that. I simply cannot accept that people who have been hunting for years would point a gun at him, let alone shoot in his direction. All you have to do is look at the pictures of these hunters and know they are not the type to play games with loaded (or unloaded) weapons.

If he was being harrassed, all he would have needed to do is go to the authorities himself. Yet I can't believe they would give him any reason to.

All speculation on my part, of course. It's just that hunters around here are very serious about gun safety and this Vang is the one who had at one time flashed his own gun at his wife.

Nor I. The accounts of people who personally know the victims make that scenario extremely unlikely. Vang is playing the race card to the hilt in the hope that political correctness will create enough ambiguity to allow for a lesser sentence. It ain't gonna work.

I grew up in north Central WI and the area was a fairly crime free area until the Hmongs got moved in

They are heavily involved in gangs drugs and prostitution

These Hmong gangs operate out of Mpls...through EauClaire Wausau and Green Bay and throughout the Fox Valley with more in LaCrosse...they are connected to the Hmong community in Sacramento Calif and their General has a large ranch in Montana...

I don't know how this was paid for..as Hmongs were poor primitive folks that raised opium and didn't clear much cash for their efforts...the war lords seem to do quite well though..imo

They might have been some folks allies in Vietnam but imo but are not anymore

They are the liberals affirmative action pets...they have never obeyed our game laws and are above the law....enforcement has taken a very liberal approach

Not long ago in Wausau the Hmongs were busted for growing opium and claimed it was their right to do so...when they get arrested they clam up and claim 'no English' and then the mandatory interpreter has to be brought in...The chief of police made a statement that no Hmongs were arrested because 'there were too many of them to figure out which ones did it"

They trespass on private lands and threaten folks that own them...if the cops are called it is rare if ever any Hmongs go to jail..

In Wausau WI not long after a large group was airlifted into Wausau..Hmongs walked right downtown with the 22 rifles and would hunt right in the city parks...they pretty much cleaned out all the ducks and squirrels until the city fathers and Hmong leaders came to a deal...again no Hmongs went to jail

They are welfare cheats and scream bloody murder through their liberal proxies in social services when they don't get their ways...

Their gangs in the schools intimidate white kids who are not allowed to fight back...

They are a pestilence on N Central Wi ..the quality of life has been greatly reduced by their presence

We had a Hmong cop who was convicted of rape and got off because it 'was apart of his heritage too rape' ..something about being man enough to take a girl away from her family and get away with it..proved his worthiness..

The libs defended him...we also had a Hmong bus driver who raped one of the girls on his bus
and he also got away with it..

The local cops say they were told not to arrest Hmongs unless they were committing a felony

I could on and on about crimes they commit some of which I have witnessed that no Hmongs were arrested for...or ones that were arrested were let go and sent on their way to Minneapolis

I personally have seen Hmongs on County forest land killing and eating deer in the middle of summer...I reported it to DNR...nothing was done...it is almost as though they have carte blanche to commit crimes...and if push comes to shove it will a white guy arrested for turning a Hmong in before any Hmong get arrested

They are pushy and demanding and well organized...we pretty much imported an Army from Loas..which is still intact..

They may have been our allies once upon a time ..but their descendants are anything but our allies

I am not surprised that is was a Hmong that did this...they like other criminal minorities and predators have been protected for so long many have pretty hostile attitudes
I also witnessed them riot on the west side of Wausau one summer night...they tried to take over a grocery store and were pelting white folks with rocks hit and elderly man with a rock in the head as he was putting groceries in his car...

When some of the local white kids fought back the cops came and hauled off a few of the white kids but no Hmong kids were arrested..

This is just sickening to me...as they have really ruined the quality of life in the areas they are taking over thanks to the libs the protect them

And this is all thanks to DAVE OBEY Democrat Central Wisconsin Congresscritter

IMO and experience

Ooh, putting me to the test. My memory bites. ;o)

Nuge knows and hunts with many Wisconsin hunters and had a lot of praise for them, basically stating that they are very responsible hunters.

He pointed out the tension that is building up here with the Hmong hunters because of their lack of respect for private property rights and, IIRC, their lack of respect for the hunting and fishing laws. While the DNR strive for the scientifically-based numbers for balanced herds and fisheries, there's a lot of documentation showing that the law-breaking Hmongs disrupt that with their poaching (if I remember that point correctly.)

He explained that the Hmong came from a country that did not have private property. That they need to understand they're in a country with freedoms. One of those freedoms is private property rights, and those owners of those private lands are to be respected.

Ted Nugent was on Neil Boortz today to talk about what happened Sunday. Rytwyng asked for a report, I was hard pressed to remember much of what Nuge said, which is in the previous post here.

While trying to get to sleep, I've been thinking of how these people could have defended themselves. I've been mulling over why they couldn't and something came to mind. I finally remembered one of Nuge's rants today.

He informed Neal this state has basically left us unable to defend ourselves. We can't conceal-carry, we can't have loaded weapons in or on vehicles, hunters are not even allowed to carry on ATVs. With only one gun holding possibly only 3 shots as required by law, our law-abiding eight hunters were basically defenseless.

Earlier this year, we missed overriding Doyle's veto for concealed carry by one vote. Which means we start over again in the new session. Dave Zien has been a strong supporter of CCW, and each time he brings it up, we get closer to getting it, but there were ammendments in there that we didn't want in there.

I think one of the things we can do is work hard to get a decent CCW bill passed and, if possible and while we have the chance, reversing some of these laws that keeps us from defending ourselves as we should be able to. That means educating Wisconsin citizens on CCW, support Zien and others on this, and being able to tell our reps that our right to protect ourselves will decrease crime, not increase it.

We're already going to have a battle with "assault weapons ban", we're going to have to fight for this one at the same time.

Anyway, my late night two cents. G'night.
