They are only reliable when they successfully serve Democrat ends.

Good morning.

It would be even better if nothing was reported until the last poll closed. But this is a start.

Have they not figured out that the people are fed up with their exit polls and simply not telling them the truth...

The only purpose of an exit poll is to provide a partisan media a tool to manipulate voters. Not only should they be banned, but I would favor the elimination of a state-by-state electoral projection until all polls were closed.

It does seem like the media wants to rethink the Exit Poll strategy of making news so they have something to talk about until nine PM on election night. I can't help but wonder if we would have been hearing crickets chirping on all the news channels and shows on election night until 90% of all precincts were reported had the Exit Polls indicated that Dubya was whipping sKerry like a rented mule.

Not since the Marines blasted through the defensive berms on their way to Kuwait City in '91 to the tune of "the Marine Hymn", the '94 congressional election Republican take-over and the 2002 election surprise repudiation of the Dummocrat obstructionist policy have I enjoyed watching a program as much as I enjoyed watching that chimp Rather's face sag as the actual votes started mounting in Dubya's favor.

God, that felt so good.

It really won't matter because I think voters are lying to the pollsters, which is only fair because the media lies to the voters every day. Maybe one day we will go back to the pre-polls way of doing things...counting the votes on election day and then announcing the winners.

A better idea---ban "exit polls" completely.

These exit polls have proven themselves, at best, grossly inaccurate. Perhaps the MSM would save some credibility by simply scrapping them.

With the advent of electronic voting, you've got a pretty good idea of who is winning using the actual vote results within a few hours of the polls closing anyway. Even with that information, no one in the MSM was willing to provide a clear opinion on the results of the election until pretty much the next day.

Heck, anyone on FR could have done a better job at analyzing the election results than the MSM did.

There was one older reporter on CNN, on election night (can't remember his name) and he was the one in charge of tabulating exit polls.

He said he had warned everyone when the exit polls showed Kerry ahead, that the purpose of exit polling was not to get estimates of actual votes cast or who was going to win.

It was for the purpose of later putting together demographics, from the entire day of exit polling, of trends in the electorate.

He said even though he had warned the CNN reporters to be cautious of any exit poll as an indicator of who would win, he said he saw reporter after reporter leaking the info to family, friends, and contacts.

There is no way the media whores will not tell the future liberal nominee what the exit polls say. Thanks to the speech 'god' McCain the media and liberals are one and the same.

Slight leads...

8% is not a slight lead.

The exit polls were rigged in an attempt to throw the election. Any statement that does not admit that is useless.

Exit poll data will not be distributed until after 4 p.m.

Just one little problem here. The exit polls released at 1 pm on election day showed Kerry with a 1 pt lead. The poll released at 3:50 pm showed him with a 3 pt lead.

So what exactly is accomplished by simply shelving the 1 o'clock release?

My preference would be that the consortium not even tally poll results until 7pm eastern, eliminating leaks. No results would be released until 9pm eastern.

They can say all they want about these poll results not affecting actual voting on the west coast....I don't believe them. There just isn't any good reason to release these numbers before 9 eastern.

Actually, I think the next round of "campaign finance reform" laws will ban them completely.

Ban exit polls?

People leaving polling places still have the right to speak, as in answer questions. People have the Right to Assemble out side of polling places, as in to ask questions. People have the right to publish.

What rights exactly are you willing to trash?

Did I come to the wrong place?

I thought this was going to be the thread where Dan Rather "calls" Ohio, and declares who is the new President?

They screwed it up with the 2000 election, calling the election early for Gore: I think everyone here on these boards know they actually did it on purpose to hurt Bush's chances and help elect Gore. Now they screwed up again in 2004 with these stupid exit polls, and of course, once again, the misinformation they were trying to spread was aimed at hurting Bush and helping their democRAT dog candidate win the election.

If they couldn't get it right after the second election, I seriously doubt they'll ever get it right. I don't watch any of those channels, so it doesn't matter to me what the heck they plan to do ever again. I'm one of the ones who has tuned out T.V. a long long time ago. My computer is my entertainment, and I'm never going back to those nasty networks with their commericals every 2 minutes.

The best (and should be, the ONLY) exit poll are the actual election results. Who needs all this other speculative and biased garbage? (Besides the liberal "mainstream" media who attempt to suppress Republican voter turnout by falsely predicting Democrat wins.)
