Maybe. But if it were a distraction for a possible assassination attempt, I would think the last thing they would have expected the president to do is go TOWARD the commotion.
I just saw it on Fox, and it was great I have read many Posts on the incident. its amazing to me that some of these seem to say the President was wrong or that the secret service would be upset that he did this. IMHO he did the right thing. This is a man I am proud to have as president, not some phony Gigolo who wrote himself up for medals.
I'm just thankful everything turned out okay - and it might have been an even bigger risk if Bush's head SS guy had NOT gotten into the building. Unfortunately, I think Bush is always in danger, especially in foreign countries, but I know he has to go. He needs lots of prayers.

I think Bush _was_ being safe. You have foreigners trying to get Bush alone without his body guards. After this incident you have foreigners trying to get Bush to go to a dinner without running everyone through a metal detector. Sounds fishy to me.
