I don't know what Dubya said to Pooty Poot, but whatever it was, I'm glad because I finally got to see Pooty Poot smile. He always has such a sullen look, as if he is always mad at the world.
I don't have to dignify that kind of garbage with a response.
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.
Thanks so much.
I htink we both agree that it was a screw-up. Maybe the USSS didn't inform the Chileans that there are a few SS agents, who stay close to Bush, no matter what, maybe the Chileans didn't tell us the details, who knows. Bottom line, is that when it comes to the security of the US President, especially in the war times we are living in, we can't afford to take any chances.
As I said, thank God, that nothing happened. I hope everyone learns from this.
All it takes, is one screw up, or mistake, for disaster.
CNN uses this headline:
"Secret Service agent clashes with Chilean police"
More incendiary liberal media mush
Unreal is right. Try to find a trace of this news on tv tonight, or on Google.
"1) We should have demanded, 6 months ago, and obtained an exception that would at least allow one or two S.S. agents to go through the main entrance with the President, while the rest of the detail would have already been in position inside to meet him. [Now, perhaps this exception WAS agreed upon, and the Chilenos screwed up and forgot. That is possible.]"
However earlier, in post #792 you said this:
"Some people were suggesting earlier in the thread that our guys weren't allowed in the building. Not true. They weren't allowed to use the front door."
What precisely do you know about this?
If all ten hockey players converge,a lot of mayhem ensues.
When is the last time you saw any kind of official politician, let alone POTUS,having to push and shove in a melee. The fact that it happened is shocking on its own.
Lastly,I think we can all assume that the SS guy trying to get in is at least experienced, otherwise he would not have been send on a foreign detail. Why is he so insistent he has to go in? It is not enough to say thathe misunderstood the protocol.I'm sure he was aware that his actions were going to provoke a reaction, yet he still continued to protest and insisit on getting with POTUS.You cannot just assume that he went crazy for no reason at all.
It's Cultural Jihad's label. I stole it from her.
No, most scrums are talking and everybody skates away.
"The guys following him up to the door need to follow him through the door."
Do they? I don't know. I'm no armchair Secret Service agent. If so, then that should have been clearly agreed upon as an exception to the rule (and maybe it was, and the Chilenos forgot, or intentionally decided not to honor the exception).
But I'm still not convinced that agents outside couldn't have followed the President up to the doorway, covering his back, and stayed in place as the President went inside. Then the interior team, who would have already been in place waiting for the President--having swept the building and its occupants thoroughly--would have taken over.
But this is all Monday morning Treasury agenting. Or Sunday morning. I don't know what these guys deal with, or how they have to do their jobs. But the President should never be in danger, and that is the only job those guys have. If the dimplomatic protocol was going to put W in danger, then the President shouldn't have been there.
Wouldn't that have been interesting. Worse than Bush 41 barfing on the Japanese diplomats.
Colombia, that's not good. Yes, I will be praying for the President. Actually, I do everyday. I know most of us do.
I'm sick of CNN .. they can kiss my royal Irish butt
That's right. And obviously, the President himself felt the agent had a right to come in. That's good enough for me.

Pray pray PRAY for protection of our truly beloved and brave President.
Yep safety first , but you got to love W !!!
6 months ago what about any intel between then and now.^MTHS old plans are very dangerous, they can be studied, routes staked out, guns planted etc. I'm sure with POTUS there are always 2 or more plans and on is picked fairly late to minimise leaks and setups.
