Which is, we will never be able to pay back Rush Limbaugh. Can you ever thank someone enough for saving your country? He WAS a "voice in the wilderness," as he calls himself, when he first started. Now there are dozens of nationally syndicated CONSERVATIVE radio talk show hosts. Virtually every region has its share of regional conservative radio talk show hosts. Yeah, from sea to shining sea.

He took one of the oldest mass medias, radio, and made it part of the new media. He made it the leader of the new media. Along comes the net, Fox News, and the blogosphere, and we are in the midst of an information dissemination revolution that has taken the power away from the old media. NY Times and company keep flailing, but their partisan biases are countered by the new media in SECONDS.

Imagine, if you will, a world in which there were NO countervailing force to the big three networks, and the big three or four newspapers. Exactly: WE would be in the wilderness. They were a monolith that controlled how the majority of Americans think, act--and vote.

We came through. Thank Rush. Thank God.

A friend told me about Rush and my life has not been the same since. Three hours a day every day he's on. I even plan my day around his program. Having said all that, my one big disappointment with him has been his failure to help save Terri, something I'm sure he'll regret someday. Rush, we do love you, pray for you and trust you will continue doing what you do best, enlighten us!

"Can you ever thank someone enough for saving your country?"

A visionary post to a visionary man. Thank you John Robertson and Thank You Rush!

Part of Rush's importance is his recognition of just how important and how visionary Ronald Reagan was. Equally significant has been Rush's determination not to allow the left to rewrite the history of the eighties. Ronald Reagan is the most important President since Lincoln.

Reagan's speeches provide the guideposts that would allow the United States to reach the renaissance that he envisioned as his legacey. I would recommend the series about Reagan's Renaissance being published at Financial Sense Online to all Freepers. The series is indexed and archived here. To see what is possible, read The Great Debate first. Then read the rest in chronological order. Enjoy!

I would think the Reagan Renaissance would be right up Rush's alley.

He WAS a "voice in the wilderness," as he calls himself, when he first started.

I remember working on a consulting contract for a small business back in '92. The two owners were big Rush fans and filled me in with all sorts of news. I was one of those that had grown up respecting the Presidency on almost a mythical level. I couldn't believe the tales they were telling about Clinton and his late night sex forays. Well, as history has shown, all of these stories and more were borne out as the truth.

I'm a long time Dittohead. Rush is superb. Others have followed, some are more conservative, but none are as intelligent and thoughtful and well-spoken.

I hate to be the turd in the punchbowl, but America is a long way from being saved. Rush has helped to stem the growing tide of liberalism that has infiltrated every aspect of our lives, and has been a real force in helping to turn this big vehicle around, but we ain't even close to being there yet.

That being said, yes, we all owe a big debt of gratitude to Rush.

A few years ago I was forced by family circumstances to spend a few weeks in San Francisco and L.A. I distinctly remember the morning I got back in my car to drive home to my "red county". The first thing I heard as I swung north on the freeway and headed home was Rush's theme on the radio...Tum, Tum Tum ta Da Tum Tum....and it brought TEARS to my eyes! It was a breath of fresh air! I'll never forget it.

Thank you Rush. My late husband and I spent many hours listening to you and learning.

No thanks to Rush necessary from here. He is paid quite well for his services.

And he gets to snuggle with Daryn Kagan to boot.
I think he'll survive without a pat on the ass from people he knows have his six anyway.

"...Limbaugh For Saving America?" I don't think so. Personally, I got tired of hearing about his golf game and jet setting years ago...long before his oxycotin days. He's just another entertainer preaching to the choir.

Bravo! Well said gentlemen.

Rush, if you are out there reading this (and I think you are), Thank you from the bottom deepst regions of my heart. You showed us we were not alone, and you spoke up for us. You choked the liberals with reason, logic, common sense, and humor.

You empowered us to start speaking openly, so we would know that each was "out there". No longer did we have to sit quietly by and endure the leftist diatribe assault on our ears and souls. (did you guess I am from NYC).

By golly Rush, you outed all us conservatives!

And for that you are one of my heroes.

Thank You! & God Bless You!

I think the sentiment couldn't be more dead one.

From the germination of Reagan's ideas
... to Limbaugh's nationwide, daily articluation of his conservative ideals since 1988
... to the Republcian Congress est 1994
... to Matt Drudge in the late 1990s which made the internet a destination for News
... to Fox News breaking though as the dominant player in cable news
... and finally to the real time critcism of the news of the day on Free Republic which truly showed its might during this election cycle.

While Reagan supplied the blue prints for communicating conservative ideals, Limbaugh demonstrated the ability to do so day after day.

Limbaugh's daily appeal to the American people in arena of ideas, not only gave many solace that there were 20 million dittoheads that shared thier values but created a marketplace where their voice could be heard.

There is an entire new generation of media superstars that draws from Rush Limbaugh.

Matt Drudge & Sean Hannity are genuine superstars in media, while Brian Williams will replace Tom Brokaw at NBC.

Drudge and Hannity reach 10 Million+ every single day via the internet and radio. It is unlikely that Brian Williams will ever get that type of regular audience on the NBC nightly news.

Limbaugh has also inspired a 24 Hour a day media watchdog here at Free Republic. A mild-mannered website David, that literally slew a media Goliath, in CBS, with an air tight case of document forgeries within minutes of broadcast.

The Limbaugh Legacy will continue to grow, long after he has hung up the golden EIB microphone. All because Rush confirmed that there was an audience in America for conservative ideas.

I nominate Rush Limbaugh for the Free Republic lifetime achievement award.

Really there's nothing I could say about him that would be good enough to do any him justice. Everything he has done just simply speaks for itself.

Limbaugh has his place, but I'd go back 30 more years when Bill Buckley launched National Review with the goal of "standing athwart history and yelling 'Stop!'" Shortly after that Ronald Reagan was giving his speech at the RNC in 1964.

I have always called Rush the "Father" of TTR (Truth Talk Radio). He is definitely one of the reasons the left is shrinking. I remember prior to Rush frustratingly thinking, "Am I the only one that sees thru this crap being propagandazised as news? Am I the only one that sees these politicians (most of them seem to be democrats) as idiots? Where in the hell did my rights as a free thinking individual disappear to overnight? How did we turn into a European/Socialist/Communist two class system of "useful idiots" and elites? Thanks to Father Rush, TTR, Internet (Free Republic especially), and some what Fox, we now have a voice and is being heard.

It's amazing "how" God uses people. The fact that He picked someone who lost their job several times and was basically a nobody, trying to do talk radio and transforming him into the number 1 conservative talk show host in the country.

God obviously gets alot of credit too! :)
