OK - can you refreeze turkey once it is thawed? after it is cooked? I've been assuming yes for years, but would like some reassurance.

Yes, you can thaw, cook, and then refreeze the cooked turkey. I do it all the time.

Only if it has been cooked.

You shouldn't refreeze any meat unless it is cooked.

So if you defrost a raw chicken, you can cook it, then freeze it again. But you cannot defrost a cooked chicken, make it into a recipe and then refreeze it.
