The insurgents said Saddam organized special operations units, starting in 2001, to counter any foreign invasion in Iraq

Pre or Post 9/11?

If it was pre then maybe my instincts about Saddam being fore warned about 9/11 are not off base.

Proof? No. But there are a whole bunch of little things that make me think it is so.

OK, here's the thing, Tom. In a perfect world, you premise would be correct. If we want others to stop killing us, we stop killing them and everyone can go sing kumbahyah. Unfortunately, if we were to pull out of Iraq tomorrow, we would all but give the green light for the rest of the terrorists in teh world to do what Osama did only worse. "Taking it on the chin" would only make them do more. What do you expect us to do, roll over every single time a whacko terrorist gets his panties wadded up over something we do and sets off a bomb on a bus in NY? Think about what you are saying here. Basically, you are saying that the way to end all of this is to stop what we are doing in Iraq, all but pull out of every agreement we have with Israel and leave them on their own and when some islamo-fascicst Osama wannabe comes into the US with a bomb or taes over a school like in Russia, we should just ignore it?? Are you serious?

I don't like our boys dying either, but we cannot make people "like" us or even stop their desire to kill us all just by saying we'll stop our soldiers from taking the terrorist out and promise not to retaliate in the future. It sounds good, but it isn't going to work.

The reality is, is that they are just normal misguided people, pushed to the limit because of perceived hipocracy on the part of the International Community (but especially the USA).

Bin Laudin was a multi-millionare who decided to become a mass murderer.

Gimmie some comment,

Sure. I have met a couple of ex-terrorists in my day. I asked them why they did the stuff they did, blowing up hospitals, buses, shooting people indicrimitly.

You know what they told me? Each told me, "We wanted to be in charge. We caused as much death and destruction as we could because people naturally want peace and order. We hoped that you would give us the power so you would have your precious peace back."

Let me inform you of what the current Islamic Terrorist wants, he wants everyone on planet earth dead or submissive to Islam and Islamic law.

While you find that acceptable I do not. As I have no intention of dying and will never submit that leaves dispatching the terrorists. That is acceptable.

So I tell you what, you submit and try to understand and I will do my best to shoot around you. No promises though.

See tag line.

I agree. We need to make Assad an offer he cannot refuse. The sooner the better. Shut down the connections between pro-Saddam loyalist in Syria or you'll suffer a fate like Saddam's. His sovereignty depends on his leaving Iraq to its own self-governing future. There is no way Assad can say that he cannot break the Saddam loyalists in Syria.

The price our young men and women are paying right now in Iraq is directly the result of whimpy behavior by our "spymasters." That is a disgrace. People ought to go to jail.

And the price our citizens paid on 9-11 was also because of failures in the government. Those who were in charge of national security were negligent and should also be imprisoned, wouldn't you agree?

... Saddam not be treated as well as he has been.

Saddam should get the ultimate panties-to-the head treatment. Mrs. Albright and Janet Reno should volunteer to serve their country by being the first to donate.
