TED'S DAYS NUMBERED? (NIGHTLINE)
New York Post ^ | 11/19/04 | DON KAPLAN

'NIGHTLINE," ABC's late- night news show, is about to undergo a massive shakeup that could mean the end of anchor Ted Koppel.

Insiders say that among the changes under consideration are expanding the show to one hour and making it a live broadcast.

Koppel, whose deal with ABC is reported to be worth $10 million, is not a fan of working live.

In fact, his contract — which is said to expire next year — severely limits the network's ability to air the show live when he is in the anchor seat.

The changes appear to put Koppel and the network on a collision course.

Already the network has dropped "Nightline's" top executive, producer Leroy Sievers.

what kind of ratings does nightline get nowadays?

I'd rather see him and his toupee gone and replaced with jimmy kimmel live. You can trust the news you see on Jimmy Kimmel's show more than you can on nightline.

Who cares, just another nail in the couffin of the LIEberal media.

Phase two of the Reagan Revolution is to move into the Blue (from brain asphyxiation) states.

Thank God that America has a president that wears his Bible on his sleeve instead of a condom and that doesn't treat terrorists like statesmen.

Legacy media.

It's ABC. They'll replace the Tedosaurus with multiracial sex skits.

From the article:

Ratings for the show have been on the decline, off nearly 20 percent from two years ago. The common wisdom is that an entertainment program at 11:30 p.m. would get better ratings and make more money.

Ted Koppel....I used him as a sleeping aid...whenever I came home from work stressed...I would turn his show on late at night and stare at his motionless head talking...ZZZZ...ZZZZ....ZZZZ

Your post really made me laugh. Waaaay back when I didn't realize that the news shows were propaganda, plain old lies and BS; I used to try to watch ole Ted because I wanted to be "informed".

90+% of the time I fell sound asleep. I'd like to think that deep down I saw the truth and protected myself from brain rot.

Evidentally pimping for commies and rats is bad for ratings.

I haven't watched in in years. With Fox, Cspan, MSNBC and even CNN - there's no reason to watch pompous Koppel.

He's history.

There's an opening for him in Viet Nam as anchorman for a nightly news program with unlimited opportunities to fabricate the news and make up stories about the big war and how Kerry' courageous actions in front of a nasty Congress won it for the commies.

whats amazing is that liberals think the the media has a conservative bias.

then again, I like running into liberals who like to use Bill Orielly as an example... it makes it easy to peg the ones who only know what they are told.
