Mr. President, I can't thank you enough for your generous words and for coming to the opening at all.
I mean, after all, you just delayed your own library opening by four years.
(LAUGHTER)
I congratulate you on your election, and I wish you God speed, especially in a new and more hopeful time for peace in the Middle East.
I remember the first time I ever heard George W. Bush give a speech in Iowa. And I called a friend of mine, I said, "My God, that guy can beat us.
Do you have a link to the WashPost transcript so we can read the rest of this jive?

WASHPOST TRANSCRIPT
I hope Nancy just had some staffer type up a form letter, like, "Dear so-and-so, congratulations on your recent achievement blah-blah-blah." Then slap a rubber-stamp signature on it. That's all the impeached one deserves.
It's probably best that Ronald Reagan isn't here to witness this crap. Clinton isn't fit to carry Mr. Reagan's jelly beans.
...glad Kerry is back on the job, as opposed to preparing to transition to a new one.
I had much the same reaction when I first saw Slick on TV. Bush 41 was at 90% approval rating, but I remember thinking "If any Democrat can beat Bush it's this guy". Sometimes I hate it when I'm right.

Who is this Kerry person of which you speak?
You don't remember the electon we just had where more than 60 million people voted to keep Kerry in the Senate?
Or maybe you were asking where I got the quote - the link to full transcript of Clintoon's speech is in post #4. It is in there.
I think President Reagan would have been happy about those election results a couple of weeks ago, though. And I think he would heartily approve of our current President's response to 9/11.
Reagan's 5th term begins Jan. 20, 2005!
Indeed, it is unimaginable with out the Gipper. Both Bush's owe all three terms to that great Man.
I think it is more like his third term. At least I hope so.
I've had my differences with President Ford but it's too bad he couldn't make it. It is always historic to see all the living presidents together. How I miss that giant figure though, Ronald Reagan. Even Richard Nixon, for all his flaws, looked good compared to the characters and policies of Carter and Clinton.
