The 14-year veteran of the Spindle City police force is accused of lying to a grand jury investigating the Mello crime syndicate. Prosecutors allege LaFleur knowingly perjured himself when he allegedly lied about shielding Mello from arrest during a 1992 drug raid, running license plates for the convicted local mob boss and offering sensitive law enforcement information to his associates in exchange for cash payments.

This is just the tip of the iceberg.
This was a witch-hunt in Lafleur's case. It got personal . Lafleur will soon be exonerated.
A couple bad hombres got what was coming to them. Lafleur ain't one of 'em.
I can personally vouch for Davie's honor, integrity, trustworthiness, and clean hands in this matter.
He's a Freeper, too.
He was my partner for two years. I was with him during the long night shifts as he pored over his checkbook, trying to make ends meet. If he were corrupt, he coulda done a whole lot better for himself. A guy can't pick his family; he always kept a wall between himself and his not-so-law-abiding relative (not Mello...but an associate). He pulled no punches, took no bribes. His actions with regard to hiding evidence, etc, have been thoroughly investigated by IA. Verdict: BUNK!
Mello is going down. If you're a cop, and he knows your name, he'll whip up dirt on you to prolong his pre-prison 'braceleted' stay of execution.
Be a sport and print the newest information on Lafleur. He's a good man who's lost everything. He is deeply in-debt from legal expenses, and has suffered unwarranted humiliation at the hands of the Federal Prosecutor and a couple of investigators who don't like the way Davie wouldn't bend over and take their crap.
I owe a sort of apology: I read the excerpt, went to the link and mis-read the dateline (that's as far as I went). I just went back to the article, and I see this is a recent one, one one them that I thought you should post. My bad.
I know some honest cops (who shall remain nameless) who have confided in me the kind of "vice and corruption" they see. They feel they can't do their jobs because of the liberal "look-the-other-way" attitude they see here in Massachusetts. It permeates the entire Justice system. I think we owe it to the good cops to make sure the bad cops are prosecuted as well as the politicians who exploit the system for their own gain. Wouldn't you agree?
I'm tellin'ya: there ain't a cop on my job who isn't happy that tyhe bad apples are gone; but also, any confidence they had in the Fed to do any kind of responsible investigation is long gone. We've seen a good guy ruined. To be totally fair, the investigator O'Neil is not a Fed.....he's a sergeant from a neighboring town (special appointment to the 'Task Force') who, along with his assistants, has made it his mission to screw with Dave. My impression is that he wanted his shoes kissed ("dig me"), and he played dirty to make Dave kiss them. Never happen. Dave's innocent, has nothing to hide, and has a great lawyer. O'Neil's being exposed, and I expect he and others will be facing a lawsuit, at least. He may have thought, honestly, Dave was guilty by association...and placed his bets accordingly; but he was betting red, and black won. His reputation and legal standing was, and is as a result, tied to Dave being dirty.
Dave will have his job back, with backpay...but what he has suffered makes me cry...literally.
Our own chief backs Dave to the hilt. But he just has to wait for the trial to run its course.
