Beef News Canadian cattle farmer faces jail sentence
by Pete Hisey on 11/18/04 for Meatingplace.com
An Alberta cattle farmer planning to charge hunters to shoot his cattle faces a year in jail and a $10,000 (Canadian) fine if he follows through.
Ed Wedman plans to charge hunters $500 to shoot each Holstein, and they can keep the roughly 500 pounds of beef afterwards. Authorities have warned him of the penalties, under a law that specifically prohibits farmers from allowing hunters to shoot their animals, but Wedman says he is not going to back down.
To date, there have been no replies to his local newspaper advertisements, but Wedman says he plans to place another ad soon.

I saw him on TV. Sounds like a nice guy. I would be the first one to line up to shoot. I would pay extra if he put a pix of parrish on the cow :-)

Why can't you shoot a cow if its owner says its OK ?
What did I miss ?

RE: "If I can't get me a Goose in Ohio, I'll get me a Cow in Canada." Gosh I thought this was surely gonna be a 'John Kerry' thread...something about 'mad cows' being easier to hit than geese...even if you ARE wearing a yellow coat...but...
Oh well.
