No sooner than I had heard the story on the six o'clock news it was on the Internet.

The story boils down to something like this. Fifteen insurgents had been using a Mosque as a fortress from which to kill marines. The marines killed ten of their enemy and apparently wounded another five. The following day another group of marines came upon the five wounded insurgents and one of the marines thought that one of the insurgents was faking being dead and shot him dead to make sure. Unfortunately, there was an embedded camera crew from NBC which filmed the event. The reporter, Kevin Sites, reported the story as though the marine were a war criminal, and the Marine Command relieved the marine from duty in order to investigate the case. And I'm sure we'll continue to hear a lot more about it from the NY Times.

Now, let's cut to the chase, and cut out the hypocrisy. If there had not been an embedded journalist in that action, we would not be reading or hearing about the matter. It is only because of the delicate feelings of correspondent Kevin Sites that the event has been elevated to a moral crisis--another example of entertainment-media-morality-as fraudulent and phony as most of what appears on the media......

This "reporter", and I use that term loosely, has a history and is not a normal NBC reporter. He is a open antiwar protester, with a website no less so I am told, who somehow got a ride with our brave troops as an embed. I think that he should stay though just long enough for him to get separated from his protectors.

But the Marine was mistaken and it turns out that the terrorist was already dead before the Marine shot him. No harm, no foul.
