A Look Inside Media Matters for America
The people running Media Matters for America, the new liberal media watchdog in Washington, D.C., come from a hodge-podge of liberal interest groups. Its president and chief executive, David Brock, a former conservative journalist, is best known for writing “Blinded by the Right: The Conscience of an Ex-Conservative.”
But behind the scenes, Media Matters employees have worked for groups like the National Organization for Women, Greenpeace and the Democrat presidential campaigns of Sen. John Edwards and retired Gen. Wesley Clark. The organization’s editorial director, Marcia Kuntz, formerly ran the Judicial Selection Project at the Alliance for Justice, which was influential in blocking President Bush’s nominees. And leading Media Matters’ communication department is Naomi Seligman, the former communications director for the anti-gun Violence Policy Center.
