According to the Economist, Canada is the 9th largest producer of oil at 2,763,000 barrels a day. We produce 7,177,000 barrels a day and are the second greatest producer in the world. Saudi Arabia is #1 but we don't lag it by much as they produce 8,768,000 barrels a day. Russia is #3 at 7,056,000.

On the consumption side, we are the world's greatest consumer at 19,633,000 a day while Canada only consumes 1,941,000, making them consumer #10 and giving them a daily surplus of 82,200 barrels.

We can more than make up the difference with Alaskan reserves, as, according to Jewish World Review (March 14, 2002), ANWR alone has 10.3 billion barrels of reserves. This is more than three times America's annual oil production.

So, I take it that you want to voluntarily blockade 87% of of our imports of natural gas, not to mention the oil?

Because some bitch insulted us?

Increasingly, the rhetoric from foreign politicians is reported by the media, the more inflammatory the better.

The truth is that the more entertwined our economies become, the more the rhetoric means nothing.

As long as the US economy remains the engine of the world, which it is in NO danger of losing despite media reports, we pretty much get our way.

The business of America is business, something noted by a former President about 80 years ago.
