NBC cameraman an anti-war activist

Kevin Sites, the NBC cameraman who shot video of the controversial shooting of a Fallujah insurgent by a U.S. Marine, is an anti-war activist whose photographs of Iraqi prisoners are featured on at least one anti-war website.

Sites was embedded with the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment in Fallujah when he shot the video of the Marine shooting an injured enemy fighter in a mosque. From the dialogue on the footage, it appeared the Marines were unsure if the insurgent was dead or faking death. Some fighters in Iraq have feigned death only to pull out a weapon or blow themselves up to kill Americans.

The U.S. military is investigating the incident to determine what happened and what, if any, punitive action should be taken against the Marine.

Sites was serving as a pool cameraman, giving access to the video to many networks.

Images Against War is one website where Sites' photography appears, giving two separate pages to his work. One of the pages, labeled "Kevin Sites 2," features photos of captured Iraqis with one caption saying detainees on a truck were enduring "a long ride into uncertainty." Most of the photos featured on the site engender sympathy toward U.S. enemy fighters and antipathy toward American military personnel.

Images Against War, which is based in Germany, has a comments page where posters have lashed out at Sites.

"The kindest things I can say about you is that you are a traitor and a terrorist sympathizer," writes one poster. "I would say I feel pity for you, but that would be a lie. All I feel for you is disgust. … Shame on you. I look forward to the day that the betrayal of this Marine haunts your every moment."

Dennis Karr posted: "Kevin Sites has to be the lowest of the low, a traitor for sure, only breathing right now because of our brave soldiers whom he surely hates."

Wrote yet another: "Good luck riding along with our troops now ... you're going to need it."

Sites also has his own blog. Here is part of his entry for Nov. 10, when he was accompanying Marines on their assault on Fallujah:

" The Marines I'm embedded with are nearly ebullient. This looks to be a cakewalk. One jokes they'll be sipping 'pina coladas by the Euphrates River by fifteen-hundred.'"

In his account, Sites describes dead Iraqis in detail and says the Marines are "operating with liberal rules of engagement."

His site includes a disclaimer explaining he is a freelance journalist on assignment for NBC, "but this site is a personal website not affiliated with or funded by NBC News."

Sites' bio says he was captured by Iraqi Fedayeen militia outside Tikrit while traveling with Kurdish fighters and spent four hours in captivity before being released.

Y'all stop it! Yer makin' me blush.

It has become my life's ambition to see the MSM brought to its knees. I've promised myself to live long enough to p!ss on their graves ;^)

The cancer spreading throughout our beloved country could not continue its malignant growth were it not for the utopian dreamers in the MSM, period. How and why they do what they do is a curiousity that defies explanation outside of an orchestrated effort to subvert our culture and way of life. Conspiracy? Not in the true sense; they're actually pulling this off before our very eyes. Agenda? Definitely! These people have a dream and I don't think it includes a stronger republic(just a hunch). That is, Americans as a sovereign people. We still, to this day, are a sovereign people, we're just afraid to exercise our God given rights to act on our beliefs. The faux press has and will continue to pillory us or anyone else that gets in their way.

A lot of folks, including myself, have asked why conservatives don't seem to have a presence in the media. I've given it more thought than I care to admit, but it's an important question that, if answered, could shine a bright light on the problem. Would that we could see the cockroaches scramble, eh? Anyway, I've distilled it down to a simple notion, maybe too simple. Good vs evil; right vs wrong; tyranny vs liberty; slavery vs freedom. I'm having trouble laying the foundation for my point, so bear with me here.

The upshot? There are those amongst us that have the answers and are convinced their way is the only way; control freaks, if you will. These are your media types; socialists. There are those amongst us who just want to be left alone, to live a life based on God given individual freedoms. These types are NOT your evening news readers. They generally don't want to tell anybody else how to run their lives, just stay out of their way. So the conflict is an old one between those who want to run things, and those that don't want to be run ;^)

Now, that may be clear as mud, but it makes a lot of sense to me FWIW.

.

...Doesn't this remind us all of the Media's slanted TV Coverage of the aftermath of the 1997...

...North Hollywood Bank Shootout..?

...I personally will NEVER FORGET how our lifesaving Hero LAPD Officers on scene were just savaged by local TV Media for ensuring that their combat zone was safe and secure before letting LAFD Paramedics in to assist a wounded Bankrobber.

...Local TV Media accused LAPD Officers of murder. This gave Anti-LAPD, and Friend of FIDEL CASTRO, Civil Rights Attorney STEPHEN YAGMAN his opening to sue these LAPD Officers on behalf of the children of the by then deceased Bank Robber, a Bankrobber who had tried to kill so many.

(STEPEN YAGMAN has been suspended twice from practicing Law as a consequence of his stealing from his clients)

I will NEVER FORGET also how the now infamous CBS News' '60 Minutes' propaganda TV Show continued to trash these courageous LAPD Officers ..thru the use of Los Angeles local TV News footage ..enhanced by its own liberal slanted TV reporting.

...Back in the early 1960's a college teacher of mine stunningly stated that the true cost to us of having "Free" TV was yet to be seen.

...We students thought he was NUTS.

...Turns out, it's "Free" TV thats NUTS..?

I think the more I hear about it, the more I think this young Marine should just be allowed to walk away without punishment. I think that having embedds along when they go into combat is BS and if that reporter had any ethics at all, he should've released the video only to the Marine's command first. Now the libs will scream for this poor Marine's head, but I for one, will fight them on this issue. They don't know squat about combat, and therefore they are in no position to judge anyone. They want to find out about combat, send them into the fire zones first ahead of our armed troops. Then they will truly know fear.

In the heat of combat you ain't got time to waste on all the niceties of the "civilized" world. In the liberals eyes, in order for this Marine to be judged innocent, he would've had to have offered the insurgent a cigarette and be shot to pieces first before firing back.

Screw the liberals and their press!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I first saw this Sites guy, I remember thinking that he was not a familiar face. Most of the embedded reporters are very familiar to us, but he stood out because he looked like a hippie, which bothered me because he was supposed to be covering the war.

Did he take the place of Dana Lewis, who is now with FNC but previously with NBC News?

I wonder how much sleep he gets at night.
