There is a substantial question whether it will be physically possible for King County to complete a hand recount by that date.
It is about to be Florida 2000, Part Deux, in Washington State. God help us.

It's a statewide race, not a national race, so dealines are not important. Not even in the same ballpark as Florida 2000.

You're probably right. No large election can withstand real scrutiny. The logistical difficulties alone are never appreciated by the general public and problems always occurred which are routinely overlooked after a clear victory. These problems will be blown way out of proportion by an inexperienced press, and we haven't even started talking about the lawyers yet. Good luck.
