He's not responsible for Specter getting elected. If anything, he's responsible for Specter getting the Republican nomination, because he's politically astute enough to know that Toomey couldn't win a statewide election in Pennsylvania.
Toomey wasn't any more conservative than Santorum so your assertion is disproven. The same cowardly statement's like this were also used by RINO's against our President while he pursued the nomination. In the last 30 years conservative nominees have done better than liberal ones and most Republicans have now learned that there are more votes to loose on the right than can be gained on the left. RINO's are happily a dying breed.
