Mamzelle,
You asserted we "must not" abandon Taiwan. Wny not? Makes me wonder how many are invested in Taiwan, and want the US soldier to protect their kitties.
I guess I see your point, Mamzelle.
Abandoning Taiwan to the Red-Chinese, Russians, or even Japanese would make perfect sense ...
... just like how the United States prevailed over the German Nazis after Great Britan surrendered to Hitler,
... and the United States simutaneously prevailed over the Japanese after Australia surrendered to Tojo.
Even a third-grade school girl playing "Risk" would see your argument as absurd.
Are you a product of the Arkansas Public School system ?

I keep asking why Taiwan is valuable to us, how it is we have all these moral debts to all these nations who
never never never step up to the plate when things get tough for the US.... and shortly the insults start. I could play that game..."Got some dough in Taiwan, huh, George P?"...
We can't keep opening new battle fronts, however much your money might be threatened. There's also a half-dozen potential fronts in Africa; the whole continent will probably be solidly Islam very shortly. I'd rather be red than sharia.
This thread reads like a little seminar trial-baloon--evangelizing for saving Poor Little Taiwan, an economic powerhouse. South Korea is another Poor Little Baby, with a giant military that somehow can neither protect itself or send a soldier to help us in Iraq
Nuts to them.
I suspect there's some global corporations that want their own little red/white/blue army. No way.
