I've never trusted Orrin Hatch. Me neither. I had a revelation about "Booby" Hatch during the Impeachment days when he met out in a cabin getaway in Utah with Al Gore in a highly underpublicized meeting. Soon after that, the Senate conveniently decided NOT to hear evidence against Clinton and not have a trial. I lay that squarely at Hatch's feet.

While I've posted elsewhere that Hatch was a poor chairman and relaxing the rule to give him another 2 years of chairmanship is no solution, here's another explanation for the outcome of that secret meeting: Hatch rightly determined that turning the country over to AlGore was infinitely worse than giving the Toon a free pass. As much as I despise the Clintons, hindsight tells us that AlGore as president would have been a disaster of epic proportions.
