From reports, this kind of situation is actually fairly common and unremarkable. To say that this rises to the level of danger requisite to earn a medal, without even some evidence that the dying man in fact was in a situation to effectively attack, sounds silly.
What was uncommon is the capture on tape. Possibly the Marine was more zealous to kill off possible dangers, BECAUSE he was being tailed by a civilian - it would not look good to have a MSM reporter suicide bombed. It would be ironic if it was more likely that the "dead?" were given a better chance without a civlian present, something the MSM should carefully consider if it really cares about sparing as many Iraqis as possible.

Why did that marine address that POS civilian idiot with the camera as "sir"? Why did that POS civilian have any say-so as to how these marines conducted their piece of the war? Why is everything so upside down. Could it be the influence of the MSM?
But the wording was given, not offered. When the Armed Services give me a Discharge, I figure that means I'm outa there.

This Marine should at the very least be restored to his unit ASAP and given an apology for having been removed to begin with. The politicians and military brass wanting to stab him in the back to placate the press and the arab alley should be dragged in front of a firing squad for treason.
