ABC has formally apologized for a slightly raunchy open to Monday Night Football featuring Philadelphia's Terrell Owens and actress Nicolette Sheridan of ABC's prime-time sudser Desperate Housewives.
The open featured Sheridan, clad only in a towel, trying to entice Owens. Once Sheridan dropped her towel, Owens opted out of the game, saying the team would have to win without him.
In the taped segment, Sheridan drops a towel and is shown from a rear angle unclothed down to the lower part of her back. After Owens says, "Aw, hell, the team's going to have to win without me," Sheridan jumps into his arms.I missed the open myself; then again, everyone seems to be on pins and needles lately when it comes to "decency" or at least percieved decency on television."We have heard from many of our viewers about last night's MNF opening segment, and we agree that the placement was inappropriate," ABC vice president Mark Mandel said in a statement. "We apologize."
In a strongly-worded statement, NFL public relations vice president Greg Aiello said, "ABC's opening was inappropriate and unsuitable for our Monday Night Football audience. While ABC may have gained attention for one of its other shows, the NFL and its fans lost."
A spokeswoman for the FCC who declined to be identified, said, "I can confirm we did receive complaints" about the ABC MNF opening. She said the complaints will be reviewed.
If an "apparent violation" of the rules is determined, the FCC would issue a "letter of inquiry" to ABC asking for more information about the incident. If a violation is ultimately determined, penalties that could include fines could ensue.

Just damn.
If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...
They didn't apologized for the content, just the placement. Cheating wives are still OK, just not for those redneck football viewers.
I missed it. Was there one boob or two?
Yet our local station, a top 10 market, refused to air that war movie.. which was it... oh they didn't show it so I don't know
geez. I missed this one.
Thank you Mike for finally giving a post that actually describes what occurred. We turned the game on well after it started and previous "vanities" this morning about it were rather vague about the "problem."
The lengths that these H'weirdos and the networks go for publicity is ridiculous. Where's the line in the sand?
Medical records incdicate that she has two.
We only got to see one -- Terrell Owens.
I don't know. How many execs does ABC have?
For another look at the same sort of stuff and antoher reason the MSM is skittish about this sort of thing see:

Then ask the FCC whether ABC is going to get the same size fine as FNC. Huh? Well, bureau-rats? Are they?
ABC is such a yawn.
One word - NO
They apologized. Big Deal.
ABC saw the furor over Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake. I give them credit for being intelligent enough to note the similarity between these stunts in advance. They wanted to do this and were willing to risk the fall out.
The consequence for the NFL will be the loss of family viewership & revenue as these stunts continue. It may not be tomorrow, but if parents cannot trust the material aired they will eventually begin to turn off these games for the sake of their children.
Do they want to see their league to follow in the footsteps of the NBA? If not, they better have a word with these networks.
My grandchild was watching CARTOONS this past Saturday, IN THE MORNING and they had a promo for Desperate Housewives, where the woman is in a bra and panties and says "I want sex".
I've never seen this "Housewives" show, can somebody tell me, is it as sleazy as the title appears to be?
I've never watched it either, and don't want to. I've only seen the previews. Looks trashy.
