If Sites is so supportive of the Marines, why did he shoot this tape and send it in? He couldn't be that dense and not know that they would use it against our troops. He had the option to not record the incident. I say, get the media out of there. They're only putting our troops in danger. I don't think any of us would want a camera following us around while we're trying to stay alive and fight a war against insane zealots.
While Mr. Sites may be supportive, the Editors are not. Regardless of his supportive feelings, though, Sites is there to make a living as a freelancer. He has shot much more footage than this, and I'm sure he sends it all in to be parsed for inclusion, since he only gets paid for what they use. Normally, the news editors pick and choose - out of thousands of hours of video - that which they will use. In this case, they were looking for something to incriminate, and they believed they found it in this video.
In this case, regardless of Mr. Sites supportiveness, I'm with you regarding the embedding of reporters in close battle - NBC's and Al-Jazeera's editors have used this to deliberately damage American Marines, and put them in danger. They are using it to aid and comfort the enemy - and so, if possible, we should deny them that ability.
