In giving you a precise, simple answer, the media men and military USED to posess a common goal - to defeat the enemy. Today, media has set its own agenda to "deliver a story", oftentimes in conflict with the main objective of war which is to resoundly defeat an adversary. Every reporter needs to realize these aren't computer simulations, the cost of war is death, and their story is not the object of attention, but if they capture a moment, it's the gravy on their dinnerplate they should be thankful of...
