ANTI-CHRISTIAN BIGOTRY EXPLODES AT VILLAGE VOICE
Catholic League president William Donohue called attention today to the anti-Christian explosion under way at the Village Voice:
*The day after the election, James Ridgeway confessed, The dream has become a nightmare. By that he meant the dream of a secular, liberal democracy. Why? Because, he said, the Christians are stronger than ever. On 11-16, Ridgeway blasted the self-absorbed, selfish Christians who take sanctimonious pride in wrapping themselves in the banners of the civil rights movement, missionary work abroad, giving old clothes to single mothers, etc. He then blamed Christians for not challenging the Klan in the 1980s, noting it is Jews who fight racism outside the South.
*On 11-15, Sharon Lerner warned of an army of bloodthirsty archconservatives who constitute the pro- life movement. So bad are things for the pro-abortionists that she says, the sky could really fall. She makes it clear that it is the Christians she fears.
*On 11-16, Sydney H. Schanberg wondered aloud if the election meant were having a second Civil War. Though he doubts we are, he nonetheless concludes that theres a feel of holy-war fever in America. He also makes it clear that it is the Christians he fears.
*On 11-16, Michael Feingold shows hes crashed: The spoliation of our national forests by Bush-based economic interests, joined with the accelerated melting of the polar cap will bring on what must surely be an increasing parade of natural disasters, pandemics, outbreaks of disease . He warns that as the sun gets more dangerous, the air less breathable, the water less drinkable, the hurricanes more frequent, even the rich will suffer. How did this happen? He says, this is the election in which American Christianity destroyed itself. Today the church is no longer a religion but a tacky political lobby . Indeed, Christianity as currently preached and practiced in Middle America is virtually Satan, by the standards of anyone who strives to follow the teachings of Jesus.
NOTE: It would behoove the 85 percent of Americans who are Christian not to treat this outburst of anti- Christian bigotry lightly.

I recall a Klan meeting announcement in north Missouri years ago. Three guys showed up. Two were from the FBI and one was an off-duty Highway Patrolman.
I like the word Michael Savage uses:
Christophobes.
My Jewish friends apparently are in your and my ideological league, so to speak, and they cannot understand this phenomenon, either....
You know if you survey the entire sayings and teachings of Jesus, there isn't a lot there implying that all governments should be social left in their policies and wholly nonjudgmental regarding the sins of men...this coming from one who would die for our sins!
"As a Jew who voted for Bush I want someone to start hating me too as I'm starting to feel left out!~}"
Geez, sorry. Can't possibly help you. Don't hate you, think you're really smart. Feeling lonely is always an option. Don't recommend it though -- you're more than welcome here!
It's a neat word and will be tomorrow's "secret word of the day" for my wife, daughter, friends, and me.
Mishpuchah!!
Dammit! I just HATE people who feel the need to be part of some victim group!!
(Feel better?)
I'm surprised about the Garrison Keillor quote. Did you hear this on his radio show, or see it in print?
Ok, heretic time.
First, I have to say that I could not care less if 2 guys or 2 women want to get together. I could not care less if they get together for 1 night or a lifetime. As long as they are of consenting age and nobody is being forced, WGAS. Of course, I could not care less about your relations, or lack thereof, also.
Second, do not presume that all gays are godless heathens. Do not presume all gays want to eradicate godliness in life. I will agree that most, if not all, of the prominent public voices are virulently anti-traditional religion. By your statements are you not guilty of they same bigotry that you accuse them of.
Thirdly, I mention bigotry and my disdain for anyone that engages in it. How do I know bigotry when I see it. I use the old DU rule. If you insert "Repug" for "Gay" and "christian morality" for "(insert class distinction here)", and it stillreads right..... it's bigoted.
Lastly, if you have a moral code, great, live by it. But do not presume to know the literal mind of God and then attempt to impose it on others. Ask the Muslims how well that works for them.
"Putting the fun back in fundamentalist"
Nothing that a good dose of guilt won't cure..... 8~)

You see, everything before 1998 is "back in the day." They don't teach actual American history anymore, leading a younger newswoman to say to me one day that 1964 was the "nadir in American racial relations." Told that it was actually the high-water mark to that point and for at least another decade, she replied, "You don't know what you're talking about."
Somebody needs to start a Godophobia ping list to track all of this left-wing hate and intolerance...
LOL! That's yiddish for family. The "whole mishpuchah" sort of means "all the relatives."
Pronounce it MISH-pook-a.
Like the days of Lot. Whole lotta gay activists then, too.
Never liked Village Voice.
Sorry buddy! Nothin' but love from this Christian! ;)
It isn't Christians they really fear. They fear God - but don't like being reminded of Him.
Lastly, if you have a moral code, great, live by it. But do not presume to know the literal mind of God and then attempt to impose it on others.I could remind you that the entire foundation of western civilization is built on that same "moral code", but I suppose that would be a pointless rabbit trail.
Tell you what: We don't tell homosexuals what to do in their private lives behind closed doors, and they don't tell us to change the foundational institutions of our civilization-like marriage, for instance-and everybody goes home happy. Have we got a deal?

Posted on the FR yesterday-from WorldNet Daily. Search Keillor and you'll find it.
