Abbas Wants Cease-Fire During Election Campaign Tuesday, November 16, 2004 Abbas Elected Chairman of PLO GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip The interim Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas (search), has asked Palestinian militants to halt violence during the campaign for Jan. 9 presidential elections, a participant in truce talks said Tuesday. Abbas is trying to work out a deal with rival Palestinian groups on a cease-fire and possible power-sharing. He held a joint meeting with representatives of 13 factions Monday, and was holding separate talks with them Tuesday, including with Hamas (search), the main opposition group and the main militant group carrying out anti-Israel attacks. Ziad Abu Amr, a lawmaker participating in the talks, said Hamas and Islamic Jihad (search) have asked Abbas to establish a "unified leadership," an umbrella group that would give the militants a role in decisions, at least until elections. Hamas and Islamic Jihad hope that such a leadership body will allow them to influence decisions, even though they apparently will not compete in the presidential election. The groups never explained how power would be distributed in such a body. Abbas appeared to be cold to the idea. Abu Amr said Abbas told the opposition groups that "the best way to achieve a political partnership is elections." In agreeing to a new leadership body, Abbas would have given away signficant powers.

New leader asks for cease-fire during the election campaign, and he has a bridge to sell, too! Sorry, but too much water has passed under the bridge for this American to believe what he says.

Cease-fire? Sounds like someone isn't up to controlling the situation over there.

The dirty little secret is that any palestinians who don't buy the "jooze are the problem" crap is murdered. Christine Amanpour won't tell you that though.

Abbas' biggest challenge would come from Marwan Barghouti (search), 45, a former Fatah leader in the West Bank who is currently serving a life sentence in an Israeli prison for masterminding attacks on Israelis. Barghouti, according to polls the most popular politician after Arafat, is planning to run, sources close to Barghouti said. Kind of hard to run anything if he is serving life in an Israeli prison.

When the Palestinians declare a "cease-fore" they mean the Israelis cease (to exist) while they fire. FRmail me to be added or removed from this Judaic/pro-Israel ping list.

Did you notice that he meant about stopping the efforts to make terror attacks (I say efforts becuase IDF and the fence stop about 90% of the attacks) untill and during the elections? So he meant that after the elections they should continue with the terror efforts! Abbas is just another creepy terrorist who is pro-killing jews and therefore I have only one answer that feets for him:

IAF Apache- the best tool to make justice with terrorists

How about the Israeli's declare war instead? Calling for a cease fire so he can get elected, then by inference saying the cease fire ends when he has it safely in the bag shows clearly he is not going to be anything but another mass murderer.
Kill him, let him vote from hell.
Next!
