I would be skeptical of this without corroboration. I think the prudent thing to do is wait to see what a police report says after they gather information from the many witnesses.

I've gotten quite a bit more info on this. The soldier came outside, but it is pretty unclear if he was showing any aggression or not.

Let me put it this way - my sources (pretty good ones) tell me that the arresting officer says the news reports are not very accurate and that in his opinion they are making the football player look worse than they should.
