Following its new settlement with the ACLU, the Department of Defense will be sending word to American military bases worldwide that sponsorship of the Boy Scouts is strictly prohibited.FYI

Boy Scouts Banned on Bases! Ummm. No.
While I disagree with what was actually done, this headline is wrong too.

"the Department of Defense will be sending word to American military bases worldwide that sponsorship of the Boy Scouts is strictly prohibited." I doubt this is true. If it is, look for Senator Helms...I mean Senator Coburn to force the issue and have the policy reversed, by law if necessary.

But the Boy Scouts do insist on belief in God. And the ACLU insists on rejection of God. The ACLU has the lawyers. The ACLU wins with the acquiescence of the DOD. Pathetic.

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) needs enabling legislation anyway....like the AMERICAN Red Cross has (not the International Red Cross - a different, un-American organization).

I have three sons in Scouts. One is an Eagle and a member of a crew. Two are advancing through the ranks and will become Eagle in a few years. At a recent Scout confab the number of Eagles who are now serving in the military were announced. It was a sizable list. It made me really proud. But, to know at least five young men personally is an inspiration.
There are a lot of selfless people in Scouting who are doing this country a tremendous service. They are preparing today for tomorrow's leaders. These young men they are training are the one's who are making it possible for those ACLU lawyers to put their feet up on their mahogany desks and work without fear that an 'insurgent' will bust through their doors and kill them.
Who is it who has secured our freedom? A sniveling ACLU lawyer? Or, the young man who puts his life on hold and on the line for us?

"...the American Civil Liberties Union announced Monday..."
The ACLU is now dictating to our military what they can and can't do? Perhaps it's time the military paid a visit to ACLU headquarters...with some Abrams tanks! This subversive organization of traitors has existed too long. And please, no crappola about all the good things they've done. BAH!

The American military cannot survive the challenges of the 21st century without the preparatory support of the Boy Scouts of America. Unmitigated BULLSQUEEZE!!!!
I was a Boy Scout, and I served in the US Army.
While the BSA is an admirable organization, and DOES teach young men how to be good, productive, patriotic citizens; the US Armed Forces would get along just fine without any assistance from the Scouts.
Self-serving tripe.

Those who have kept up with the ACLU's efforts to hinder the American freedoms of the Boy Scouts know this is their way of punishing the group for refusing to allow gay scout masters.
The Boy Scouts as an organization needs decent people's support and I, for one, will be donating to their organization as part of my Christmas giving this year.

Ok, so if the story is in error, what did they do?

The WND story is absolutely true and gives a link for those wanting to contact the Pentagon in protest.

How long before chaplains and rabbis are banned from the military? How long before praying on the battlefield illegal?

So are scouts still able to stay on military bases while traveling? Reading this it appears that only actual troop sponsorship is prohibited, which is bad enough. It would be terrible if scout groups were not able to stay overnight on military installations while traveling.

Screw the ACLU. They are destroying what makes America great, piece by bloody piece.
Support Boy Scouts, pledge to the FOS (friends of scouting) and volunteer to serve on the district and council committees. This is the best way to strike back.

They will get around this by having officer or non com organizations on base serve as sponsors. BTW how does that jive with having military chaplains?
