Whoa! I think the UN is on to something here...
...They should start with the four Blackwater men dismembered and hung from a main bridge.
...Then, the UN can go into the investigation of all the beheadings of not only kidnapped Infidels but Iraqis.
...Don't forget the indescriminate car-bombings of civilians.
...Next, the torture houses should be looked into.
...After that, they should investigate the many summary executions of Iraqi civilians by ununiformed Baathist and Al Qaeda terrorists when they ruled the city in a reign of terror.
...Next, they can look into the numerous kidnappings, rapes and beatings of Iraqi civilians which took place by gun-toting "foreigners" and ex-Sadddam operatives.
...Then, there were the number of "judicial" executions for violations of Sharia Law.
...Don't forget the dismemberment, mutilation and disembowelment of an unidentified blond woman left lying on the main street.
...And of course, surrendering and then treacherously taking up arms is a violation of the Geneva Conventions.
...so is the booby trapping of wounded and using religious buildings as fortified positions, barracks and ammo dumps.
Yup. The UN has lots of human rights abuses in Fallujah which they can investigate.
Lots.
Gee, when you put it that way, they really do have a lot of work to do in Fallujah.
Of course everything you cited should be investigated by any decent international organization.
But it doesn't work that way and we know it.
If someone farts too loud in Israel the UN wants an investigation. Arabian Terrorists get flags flown at half mast, yada, yada.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry over this brouhaha. The American people are never going to buy this. These liberals and the UN need to pick their battles a little better.
My Lai was a good battle. That soldier shooting dead someone who HAD been shooting at him and with a split second to make the decision had to disenable a possible ambush, NOT a good battle. Maybe before the election I wouldn't have been so sure. But no way Jose is this any kind of PR battle on which to hang your hat.
Which brings me to why I want to laugh in victory. Because this issue is such a non-issue it's making even more transparent the UN and liberal bias. Before when The Old Media did this sort of thing we were in the heat of an election with the Dems around to fan the flames.
Now? Hey, Americans have said their piece and now this nonsense?
So what should I do? Laugh or cry?
