On October 26, 2004, the Los Angeles County Chief Administrative Officer issued the IMPLEMENTATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE COUNTY SEAL to all Department Heads.
In response, Supervisor Michael Antonovich and Supervisor Don Kanabe introduced motions to hold off on the changing of the Seals until after the date allowed to gather the petition signatures.
As in the past, the majority, Zev Yaroslavsky, Yvonne B. Burke and Gloria Molina voted against waiting and the motion failed.
As we move forward, facing 116 days to obtain the 341,212 signatures, we must keep focused and maintain a sense of urgency. If this effort is worth doing, it is worth doing with all we can muster.
Please remember, this petition is not for an election, it is to force the three Supervisors to adopt the ordinance and keep all symbols intact.
David Hernandez will be speaking in front of the Board each month and provide them with a count of signatures obtained. So get those petitions into our office ASAP.

Months ago, Dennis Prager led a rally to keep the cross, yet they treated him like a heretic. LA Times slimed the effort also. Go figure...

well the A.C.L.U. has already intimidated some cities to remove crosses. I believe Redwood, CA was bullied into removing the cross from it's seal; simply because small cities cannot afford contesting a lawsuit. Not that L.A. is any fiscal heaven. LOL

I believe Redwood, CA was bullied into removing the cross from it's seal...That would be Redlands, east of LA.
Dennis Prager has compared this to the rewriting of history, typical of Leftists. All these seals are representative of the history of these cities.
Taking out the cross obliterates historical memories, very Orwellian.

I went to the rally myself!! It was the first protest I have ever attended in my life. It was great because there were people there of all faiths and NO faiths. One guy had a sign saying "aethists for the cross". And yes, the LA Times made it look like some fanatical Christian rally. They totally missed all the Jews, Buddahist, Hindu's etc that showed up to support the cross on the seal.

Many California cities are named after saints, I suppose the ACLU will want all these cities renamed:
San Francisco
San Marcos
San Jose
San Diego
Santa Catalina
Santa Rosa
Santa Monica
Etc. Etc.
