Marine commanders in Iraq are investigating an incident in which a Marine apparently shot and killed a severely wounded and unarmed Iraqi in a mosque in Fallujah, a Pentagon official said last night.
Images of the incident, captured Saturday on videotape by Kevin Sites, a freelance correspondent working for NBC News who is embedded with a Marine unit, were broadcast last night on several news networks. The videotape shows a squad of Marines entering the building and seeing several Iraqis lying against a wall, either dead or gravely wounded. One Marine shouts something about one Iraqi feigning death. The Marine then shoots the man in the head.

Sick headline. Just sick.
John Kerry was awarded a medal for doing essentially the same thing.
Apparant slaying? Didn't he blow the guy away on camera? That would be a definite slaying. The question is whether or not it conforms to our military protocol. Ollie North seemed to think it was across the line. I sympathize with the soldier. I really do.
Good. It should be Marines with combat experience who investigate this. That Marine should not be tried by the media, and I'm guessing the majority of Americans, including the Silent Majority, feel the same way.
So let's see. Kerry shoots a Vietnamese guy in the back and he's a hero. Our guy shoots a wounded Iraqi and he's going to be in trouble.
I've heard news reports of terrorists surrendering and then blowing themselves and the Marines approaching to smithereens.
I've also read news reports that Marines have approached wounded terrorists and the same thing happening.
NewsMax has a story about Kerry, with a FR mention, here:

It is called a "war" for a reason.
I heard reports yesterday that the marine had just been shot the day before.
I just watched the NBC video. IMO, this story is DOA (no pun intended.) After this election, I trust Americans judgement a little more. And once they see this, and learn that a dead body had been booby trapped and killed a Marine, when they see how tense the situation was, when they consider that the marine knew cameras were rolling, they will rightly conclude that the marine did not act inappropriately. I hope the military comes to the same conclusion. It just goes to show how we bend over backwards to adhere to standards our enemy ignores.
That wasn't on tv and the internet...besides, it was a while ago...the world changes.
The only thing he did wrong, IMO, was not Pi$$ing in the F$$^%ers Skull hole !!!!!
We are at war, these marines are learning the hard lessons former marines learned at places like Tarawa, Saipan, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Chosin, Tet and other places. I would rather see a hundred such terrorists, who have been fighting from inside mosques, who have engaged in unspeakable atrocities and who are fighting our people to keep freedom and stability from coming to Iraq...I say I would rather see a hundred such...no, a thousand, ten thousand dealt with thusly than to sacrifice one life of our marines there.
Sorry if that sounds hard or somehow "incompassionate" to the ears of liberals, whiners, abettors or those who do not have the stomach for getting this job done...but that is how I feel, and I believe that is what is required.
We firebombed entire cities, German and Japnese, and then nuclear bombed two cities in Japan in World War II to break the will of those who supported the troops who fought against us then like these people are fighting against us now. It is that type of commitment and stomach that it is going to take to ultimately and fully defeat these animals...as horrific as it is, best get it done sooner rather than later. Just envision the specter of hundreds of innocent Americans jumping from those WTC toweres and thousands dieing there in NYC, the Pentgon and that field in PA...that will help keep us focused on the unpleasant, but entirely necessary task at hand.
I saw it this morning, and unless the black out portion of the video was a lot worse than the audio, then I don't see that this was over the line.
Unless something was held back and there is more evidence that Ollie saw, I can't imagine him not backing this soldier.
I hope that President Bush will come out in public and exonerate this young marine.
Kerry's situation was entirely different - the enemy in his case was armed and engaging in a tactical retreat, not laying on the ground either unconscious or pretending to be dead.
We're Americans, and we don't summarily execute wounded enemy soldiers. We answer to a higher standard. If it turns out that this Marine failed to uphold that standard, he'll deserve every last moment of Leavenworth and then some, regardless of how many booby-trapped insurgents we find.
I don't understand your point.
Sorry
