The FCC should know better than to challenge the computer world.

'Challenge' the computer world? They already control the computer world. Go ahead, open up your machine and count the FCC labels. Just about anything that produces RF has to have FCC certification.
The comparing their efforts to mod chips in game systems is a non starter. Mod chips don't use RF oscillators and hence the FCC could no care less about them.
For anyone who is up in arms about what the FCC does they should take a step back and realize that the reason their TV and their cell phone work is because the FCC works to prevent radio interference. They certify computers and computer cases along with just about every household electronic product to be sure those devices are no spitting out more than their allowed share of RF 'noise'. Anyone remember when turning on a vacumcleaner caused your TV picture to wash out? The FCC works to eliminate stuff like that.
