Sorry, but I cannot support what this Marine did.

Unless there is a clear threat from the insurgent, the Marine should not have killed him.
He did not even take the time to asess the situation. The wounded man was breathing, and the Marine shot him. The guy wasn't even moving.

I know I'm going to get flamed for this. But before you do, I want you to know I have 3 loved ones in Iraq and I support the job they are doing. But this Marine acted in a very unprofessional manner. He didn't think, and in my opinion he committed murder by shooting an unarmed man.

I respect your opinion, but you are a little bit off. When dealing with a open ROE, then you have to use the precedent of percieved threat when dealing with wounded.
If the Marine did act out of haste and hypervigilance, he will be sent home and medically retired for severe PTSD. If he acted out of malicious intent, then UCMJ will judge accordingly.

In the heat of battle you enter a room that has been subjected to assault - your buddies have been killed or wounded in the battle - there are people dressed in whatever moving on the floor - there are weapons on the floor - you do not speak their language. Do you:

1. Read them their rights

2. Spread out their prayer rugs

3. Ask politely where the armed bad guys are

4. Kill the coiled snake before it kills you

Remind me not to have you watch my back should the situtation arise. You pull out that conventions of war book and look up wether or not I can blow that jokers head off aiming his rifle at you, as you thumb through the pages.

First of all there are several points that neither you or I will understand.
1] This Marine was wounded just the day before by a terrorist playing "dead" and as shot in the face.
2] This trick has been played several times killing & maiming his [mine] brothers in arms & harms way.
3] From what I saw in the video the terrorist had his hand by another's soma ch and may had been hiding something in the shirt. [Better safe than sorry]
4] It is described as the fog of war. [Something that very few of us will ever experience!]
This is what I know & think. I guess that you would had this young man's guts, brains splattered all over the walls of this building, while holding the dirt bags hand and singing some stupid song! On another note I called HQMC and spoke the PAO. He stated that they are being "Freep ed" by callers in support of this young "leatherneck" Keep up the good work "guys"!!!
