My uncle knew Ernie Pyle during WWII. He said that Ernie never put down our troops but reported the facts. I also believe that Ernie was wounded.

Ernie Pyle was more than wounded. He was killed in action.

U.S. troops erected a sign where he was killed. "At this spot the 77th Infantry Division lost a buddy, Ernie Pyle.".

Thanks. After I posted I remembered that Ernie was killed. My uncle was a medic and met him in France. He really admired him.
