Well, the New York Times had too many conservative writers on staff anyway. ;)

The NY Times has absolutely no credibility anymore. Amazing how even the cable News stations knock down the NY Slimes. Every morning on Fox and Friends they pretty well trash the Slimes.

Right away? Or is he going to lag around hoping to be invited to a few more parties like Tom Brokaw?

NEW YORK William Safire, the conservative voice on the New York Times Op-Ed page for more than three decades, will end his regular column in early 2005, a Times spokeswoman said Monday.
"He's written it for a long time and has been talking to [Times Publisher] Arthur [Sulzberger Jr.] about this for a year and a half," said spokeswoman Catherine Mathis. "His last column will be Jan. 24."
Mathis said Safire, who also will end his syndicated column, plans to continue his Sunday New York Times Magazine "On Language" feature. Safire, who joined the paper in 1973 after working as a speechwriter for President Nixon, won a Pulitzer Prize in 1978 for distinguished commentary.

Wow, that's great news.
Probably got tired of being the only sane person in the building.
I bet he just got tired of hearing these liberals moan, complain, whine, bellyache, bitch and howl at the moon that Bush was reelected.

I wonder how many people bought the paper just for this column. It will just mean that they will lose more readers.

Only one more rag paper left if the NY Slimes goes and that is the NY Daily News. I was reading all the nasty letters to NY Daily news recently and people are getting disgusted with them too.

I think they should hire Mark Steyn. But no, he might be a little too successful at persuading Dems to vote for the other side. The Times wouldn't allow it....
