I was going to vote against Dreier until the last moment when I went to the 'Fire Dreier' rally and took a good look around and saw no one I recognized from the district.
Mathews, and her partner, just struck me as a disaster waiting to happen as well.
I'll certainly be working to see that a strong conservative goes up against Dreier during the primary in 2006. Even if Dreier wins the primary, it should pull him back from the too moderate stance he's been taking recently.

Challenging a powerful incumbent from one's own party doesn't go over well. If you succeeded in knocking him off without the blessing of the party bigwigs, you'd be an outcast within the caucus, you'd have a hard time getting your bills passed, and you'd have to run for reelection with your own resources.
