Meet NAFTA on steroids

WASHINGTON – North American national borders would be virtually eliminated under plans being considered by senior business and political leaders from Canada, the United States and Mexico for a "NAFTA-plus," continent-wide, customs-free zone with a common approach to trade, energy, immigration, law enforcement and security.

A tri-national task force, chaired by former Liberal Party deputy prime minister John Manley, with the full backing of all three governments, is plotting the roadmap for this new, bolder alliance meant to compete with the European Union. William Weld, former governor of Massachusetts and Pedro Aspe, former Mexican finance minister, join Manley on the panel that reports directly to the Council on Foreign Relations.

The mission has the formal blessing of Tom Ridge, U.S. Homeland Security secretary, who is close with President Bush.

The committee is scheduled to issue its report next spring.

This is very dangerous. Bush still doesn't get it. Although I don't listen to Jack Van Impe often, I have heard him speak on the CFR and their plans. This starts to set off alarm bells.

Be wary of anything that parasite Bill Weld has to do with. He has a long track record of knifing people in the back in his quest to climb the internationalist order.

Sounds like we will be moving towards "vigilante committees" again.

Saddle up.

With the new information that al Qaeda is actively trying to get nukes and sneak them in through the lax Mexican security (mayb e even helpful security?), this is simply insane beyond belief.

I'm all for competing with the EU, but can we just annex Mexico and Canada. We would still be the United States of America. Its not like we couldn't strengthen states rights more to account for differences in ideas and culture. Plus it would reduce the bureaucracy that would be needed and their would be more direct representation.

Our new government, on the ratification of the FTAA

With the FTAA, the US will be subject to use international law as the standard, not the constitution,
"International law is the standard of conduct of States in their reciprocal relations;"

We can't discriminate against communist dictatorships in the hemisphere,
"the American States shall cooperate fully among themselves, independently of the nature of their political, economic, and social systems;"

Establish a hemispheric welfare system
" The elimination of extreme poverty is an essential part of the promotion and consolidation of representative democracy and is the common and shared responsibility of the American States;"

Communism written directly into the OAS charter
"Social justice and social security are bases of lasting peace;"

Give less deleloped nations in the hemisphere competitive advantage when it comes to trade
"Economic cooperation is essential to the common welfare and prosperity of the peoples of the continent;"

Children should be taught to be communists
"The education of peoples should be directed toward justice, freedom, and peace."

The only constitutional way to create this north American trade area, is to ratify amendments to the constutition creating STATES out of Canada and Mexico. They would then fall under our US Constitution and have a constitutional government organization based on counties and precincts.

There is no other legal way to combine countries. How will combined countries cooperate when each has such a different form of government? We would have to give our Constitutional government up, as it does not conform to the strictures of the OAS, and is incompatible with the various forms of dicatorships and socialism that occur in most of the Americas.
