Rap on Artest: A spoiled brat
The Chicago Sun Times ^ | November 14, 2004 | Jay Marriotti

He also is a great basketball player who is wasting his talent and giving the NBA another black eye because he has mush for brains. And that is troubling enough to make him a nationwide lightning rod for discussion. In his latest and most bizarre flap yet, The Artiste Formerly Known as Artest has been sidetracked by his ambitions as a rap impressario.

This says it all:

''He compromised the integrity of the team,'' coach Rick Carlisle said.

''I don't know what that means,'' shot back Artest, genuinely puzzled.

I've followed the Pacers since the ABA days. And I've never, NEVER seen a more selfish, inconsistent egomaniac in the history of the franchise. This is probably Reggie Miller's last year, his last chance at a ring. And Artest pulls this garbage? Trade him, Larry. Trade him!

I didn't even know big league streetball had started their season.

Oh well, I doubt I am missing anything.

I see Mariotti on Around the Horn on Espn all the time.He is usually an egomaniac in love with himself which of course makes him perfect to write bout Artest...Saint Johns must be so proud

It is because of actions listed above that many people have shunned the NBA.

You probably also didn't notice that the felons on ice (NHL) didn't start their season due to a strike. It would sure be nice if the NBA could go on strike too, although it is fairly easy to tune them out even when they are playing.

Since so many professional basketball players seem to lack the basic fundamentals of proper dribbling, I refer to the league as the NBA Traveling Show.

Big League Streetball

Yeah, that about sums it up.

Personally, I consider basketball to be a gift from God. It's actually the state religion where I come from. The NBA is Satan's perversion of it.

Artest is a complete moron who would be living on the street or in prison without the NBA. Wow what a big surprise that another NBA player wants to be a rapper.I wonder how long it will take this fool to go bankrupt like Tyson? If he doesn't know what the word compromising means imagine what kind of banking skills he has. When he walks through the door and opens his mouth all the hustlers begin to drool over yet another big dumb sucker.

How true.

The USA Men's Olympic basketball team was schooled by Argentina!

Let me repeat that...ARGENTINA!

I remember a time when the "Dream Team" would face the national teams of Brazil, Croatia, Lithuania, etc., and we'd be disappointed if they won by only three or four dozen points.

What the hell is happening?(!)

If I could have double dribble, traveled, plamed the ball and fouled without getting called. I could have been a contender.
