I read that and hoped it was the intent. There's no way the sarge would have missed a head shot at 500yds unless he wanted to. IMO

Last night I saw a bunch of fat nerds from Western New York protesting the 'attack on Fallujah' from their clean, safe, unthreatened suburban neighbourhood.

If I had the power I would transport every one of these protesting idiots right into downtown Fallujah and make sure they toured every one of the torture sites and viewed all the CDs of beheadings.

Then I would leave them there to make their own way home. Or not.

Yeah, I had the same thought. That's right out of a Tom Clancy novel...

A head shot is entirely too easy and the terrorist dies instantly. Much more humane to wound them a few times. What red blooded soldier could resist firing a few 50 cal rounds? Don't think I have ever met any. If you or your brothers had killed one of my brothers, I would definately make you die painfully, while I watch.
I would assume they were not delivering fatal shots in order to collect a few more prisoners... more intel... more (I gotta say it).. panties on the head!

Under real world combat conditions, I would be hesitant to risk a 500 yard head shot unless everything was perfect. Maybe for a follow-up, but not on the first one. In a less than optimal environment, I'd be more concerned with making sure the jihadi went down than blowing the head shot opportunity due to a gust of wind that the jihadi will try very hard not to offer again.
