Yeah, you're right. The smears and blacklisting tactics coming from the Kerry campaign and the MSM were the lowest I've seen in my lifetime. Never again will Kerry or any Dem. for that matter, be able to hurl the 'mcarthyism' label at anyone again. If they do try, they will be laughed off and branded as the hypocrites they are.
"Let us just hope he and mary never have any offspring. The children would be very confused."
They do have kids. I don't know how confused they are, but considering they have their mom in their life, there is hope they will turn out--at least half way decent.
"Daddy, what's a reptillian?"
So bad... so so bad...

Except that McCarthy was right. It was the media that smeared McCarthy as a witch hunter.
RE: "smeared people with the best tactics of a Sen. Joseph McCarthy"
You might not be correct since many of those Senator McCarthy was after were proven to be exactly what he stated they were many years later from the KGB files.
But, of course, the MSM was on the side of those under investigation by McCarthy.
Excellent letter.
And the answer is no. Kerry has no shame.
Problem here is Max...Sen Joe was warning us all of the communist conpiracy in the media and Hollywood who were doing back then to our people as they did during Vietnam and even today Kerry and Cronkite and Rather and Moore and Fonda are communists..or at least enable them. which amounts to the same thing
imo
BTTT
Kerry doesn't appeal to us here in MA either, trust me. We have a huge amount of curruption in this state, elitist money like Kerry/Kennedy's funding it. Big money involved, and that makes it very difficult to fight. Organizations trying to, find it increasingly difficult to raise the necessary funds to effectively do so.
Elections here can and are bought.
In my short career following politics, I've never heard anyone back McCarthy. What have I been missing??
I just read an article on Drudge from the Boston Globe's staff about the presidential campaign. They mostly talked about Kerry's campaign, but they also talked about Bush's.
Surprisingly, they talked quite a bit about the SWifties. They acknowledged how O'Neill and the Swifties hurt Kerry, but they still portrayed the allegations by them and in their books as falsehoods. Even after all this, they (MSM) won't tell the truth about Kerry's lies about Vietnam. Oh, and at one point in the story, they said that Kerry was hard of hearing because of low gunfire in Vietnam!!!!!!!My husband was there for a year, shooting a gun and has NO problem with his hearing!!!
Ann Coulter wrote a book about the myths surrounding Joseph McCarthy. I can't remember the name of it, but it came out last year I think. Maybe some of our Ann Coulter fans here on FR can tell you.
Don't ever!
Johnson was Commander-in-Chief. If he had had the guts Truman had in his little finger, we wouldn't have been flying people off the rooftop in Saigon.
We fought the VietNam War like a football team behind one point with a first down and one minute left in the fourth quarter on the two yard line when the coach sends in instructions to fall on the ball four downs and run out the clock.
The scoreboard says we lost. The players know better.
because of low gunfire==because of LOUD gunfire
so sorry
My sympathy only extended to the point that he seemed to be stuck with McNamara.
The Vietnam war was the longest in our nation's history.
1st American advisor was killed on June 08, 1956,
and the last casualties in connection with the war occurred on May 15, 1975, during the Mayaquez incident. Approximately 2.7 million Americans served in the war zone; 300,000 were wounded and approximately 75,000 permanently disabled. Officially there are still 1,991 Americans unaccounted for from SE Asia.
Vietnam was a savage, in your face war where death could and did strike from anywhere with absolutely no warning. The brave young men and women who fought that war paid an awful price of blood, pain and suffering. As it is said: "ALL GAVE SOME ... SOME GAVE ALL"
The Vietnam war was not lost on the battlefield. No American force in ANY other conflict fought with more determination or sheer courage than the Vietnam Veteran. For the first time in our history America sent it's young men and women into a war run by inept politicians who had no grasp of military strategies and no moral will to win. They were led by "top brass" who were concerned mainly with furthering their own careers, most neither understood the nature of the war nor had a clue about the impossible mission with which they'd tasked their soldiers. And the war was reported by a self serving Media who penned stories filled with inaccuracies, deliberate omissions, biased presentations and blatant distorted interpretations because they were more interested in a story than the truth! It can be debated that we should never have fought that war. It can also be argued that the young Americans who fought so courageously, never losing a single major battle, helped in a huge way to WIN THE COLD WAR.
Such a simple search, I really should've thought of it. Thanks for the tip
