Also didn't care much for whats-his-name, Barney's cousin who was a deputy, too. He got in some row because of his sleepwalking on one episode.

Loved Aunt Bea. I'm an Elly man, not much on Helen. Floyd was great, Howard the County Clerk was not a good character. In real life I had a fraternity brother who was the spitting image of Ernest T. Bass, and would sometimes assume that character while drunk... so Ernest has always been a favorite.

No Emmett was strictly a color episode character. Blech!

The deputy you're talking about wasn't Barney's cousin, he was Floyd's nephew, Warren. A more irritating person I can not imagine.

Warren! He was the worst -- it's clear the show realized they made a big mistake in casting him, as he didn't even last one season, and Andy never had another deputy sidekick.

On another subject, one of the (unintentionally) funnier color episodes was when Howard got a swinging bachelor pad!
