McCULLOUGH: Peterson SHOULD die!

But I do think I can offer two simple observations about the outcome.

1. Somewhere in his search for the "real killers" O.J. Simpson is thanking his high paid lawyers for not allowing this jury to sit on his case. A brief side by side of the two cases is pretty telling. In the O.J. trial - multiple samples of DNA and physical evidence. You had shoe prints that matched O.J.'s, gloves that belonged to him, and spots of his blood at the murder scene.

In the Peterson trial - the last I had seen there was not one drop of physical or DNA evidence that was able to be brought to bear on the circumstances of the case.

Peterson gets a guilty verdict off of pretty overwhelming amounts of circumstantial evidence. O.J. walks even with physical evidence.

2. It appears to me the new "Laci and Connor" law - so named for the victims in this very crime - was properly utilized. The jury said that two lives had been taken in the horrific act of these murders. This is a good first step in declaring that an unborn child's life has value and meaning. Where it goes from this point on some level will be up to the courts - and that's a mess for another day. But for now - unborn children have been partially vindicated - and for that I am thankful.

NOW THE MATTER BECOMES - should this be a case that deserves death as its punishment - in my opinion if he was indeed guilty of the crimes committed - there is no question in my mind - YES!

You are correct in all your assertions! I predict that Peterson and lawyers will submit multiple, possibly endless appeals and will live on for years behind bars. Whether or not he will eventually pay the price with an injection would depend largely upon the very liberal CA court system (bad example: the infamous 9th Court)

The prosecutor may not have had the strongest case for a DA but seems to me Garagos didn't so such a hot job either. I think Scott is guilty. He was his own condemning evidecne.

Most wrongful convictions are based on faulty eyewitness testimony.

Good point.
