You may be correct, but at least some of those things you mentioned--crime, bastardy, abortion, and drug use are directly related to and were predicted by, demographics. There are simply less people in the high participation ages, as a percentage. Those don't have much to do with any cultural wins.

In fact, in seeing what little television I watch today, I'd say we are getting sicker. Same with music, especially rap. Just my observations, not chiseled in stone.

"in seeing what little television I watch today"

I point that part out because of all the different channels we have now. There is so much to choose from. And a lot of people are choosing channels like Pax, the Family Channel, and Disney. And also don't forget TBN and EWTN. These channels are doing quite well.

It is true that several channels (MTV, and "big three" netwotks) are getting sicker, but fewer people are watching them.

Another thing that's happening: illigetimate pregancies are happening at an older age. The highest rates are among 20-25 y/o's, while the rate among under 20's continues to fall. So, at least, people who are promiscuous are waiting until after high school. In a related matter, men who impregnate their girlfriends are marrying them in increasing numbers. While these are smaller gains than many wish, they are gains.

The "crap culture" hit its high water mark in the early 1990's and is beginning to recede. Let's not look a gift horse in the mouth.
