Sure the Communist party still leads both countries but free market - capitalist policies are taking over the economy.
Since they started experimenting with capitalism, China and Vietnam have lead the world in economic growth with an average of 10% growth in Real GDP over the past ten years.
The leaders of the parties know there is no turning back now. The results speak for themselves.
Whether those leaders are concerned about leading for the benefit of the people, or their own personal power..
