What would the Federal Government do if Texas Seceded? Seeing that there's far more Texans serving in the Armed Forces than any other state, It would be tough.

I don't think the Federal Government has to honor Texas' secession clause either.

There are also more military bases in Texas than in any other state. The Texas, OK, KS, COLO grouping would probably be the foundation of a secessionist movement.

I agree that the Feds would do almost anything to avoid honoring Texas' secession clause. That's why I think the whole idea of secession isn't really going anywhere.

Look at this prospect from the "big picture" if you will. Any secessionist Union would require a few things: seaports, breadbasket, energy resources, etc. Now, a center-of-the-US secessionist Union would have all of those things, but it would also have 95% of the USA's oil reserves outside of Alaska. NO WAY would the states remaining in the current USA allow that to happen. Add to this the presumption that the Remaining US states would lose millions of freedom-loving people to the seceeded Union. What would be left for the original USA? The slackers, the lazy, the I-gotta-right to healthcare, a job, food, to sit on my azz crowd. Thy would quickly fall apart under the weight of their unproductive citizenry and an oppressive tax burden.

The CW2 that I see coming is not a regional or state-by-state conflict. It will be an ideological one; fought literally house-to-house and neighbor against neighbor. A secessionist movement grouping in a number of states would give away many of the advantages that strict constitutionalists would enjoy in such a conflict.

I reccomend a series of books by William Johnstone, called "The Ashes" series. Although fiction, and written about 20 years ago, it accurately depicts what we are seeing right now in the deep ideological division here in the USA, and the likely consequences and outcome of a CW2 that I envision/predict.

The Federal Government has become too powerful, and has strayed too far from its original foundation. The result, I am very much afraid, is inevitable, and IMO irreversable.
