Take away New York, DC, Miami Dade, Chicago, San Francisco, and LA, and the democRAT party disappears.

"thought this was one of those rorschach things."

It looks like a donkey shooting itself in the foot.

Those are some wild maps...

Do the cartograms resemble crumbled P-38s?

Nevermind -- maybe it's my prescription...

Funny!

Since you asked (in a rude sort of way) I'll be more specific.

We are all disabled vets.

We are all treated at the same VA hospital.

We all belong to the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association.

We are all members of the Palmyra Sportsmens Association.

We are all members of a rifle team that competes nationally in the NRA/Beeman Tour for the disabled.

And kindly don't compare my friends to OJ.

Echo on the 3D map.

Saw it in the Washington Post and it shows that Kerreys votes were so heavy in the urban districts, they look like spikes across the country.

I think it naturally raises questions of voting fraud in places where the Republicans have few poll watchers like Chicago and LA.

Saw this the other day and all I could think was, "Let the leftist punks' generals try to use cartograms when Civil War II breaks out, and let's see how far they get."

General Lee wasn't dumb enough to use cartograms in deciding how to attack, but maybe Michael Moore is, lol.

It's hilarious. DUmmies think these maps mean something in practice. Oh, they are interesting insofar as they go. But they don't go very far.

The Democrats/Socialists/Communists are represented by the blue counties. The blue voters are in the cities. If there were a map of every precinct in the USofA colored according to the red and blue guide it would show the following; the red precincts have the taxpayers and pay for the welfare in the blue precincts. The blue precincts are the tax reciepients of the red precencts.

That's exactly why we have the electoral college, so the country won't be run by a few concentrated population centers.

Close, we have an electoral college so that a few large states would not run things. It was assumed that large states would have larger population and would thus dominate the popular vote. The same reason, in essence, that we have a House and Senate. Each member of the House represents about the same number of people, each state, no matter how large or small has two senators.

Actually, it shows four distinct concentrations.

1) The short grass prarie of the Great Plains and the adjoining Great Basin over the Rockies to the Cascades/Sierras.

2) The Indiana/Ohio/Illinois Prarie and Kentucky Bluegrass country.

3) The Appalachians from New York through Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina and Georgia down to Alabama.

4) The Deep South - Gulf Coast/Florida Panhandle/Southern Georgia.

The areas that are not part of the Republican dominance are

1) New England/Long Island and its cultural colonies and Scandanavian fellow travellers in Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and the Pacific Northwest Coast.

2) The Black Belt - from southern Jersey down through Baltimore and the southern piedmont of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama to the Missisippi delta in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Tennessee.

3) Coal and Steel Country from Cleveland south through Pittsburgh to West Virginia and Kentucky.

4) The California Coast - where all the flakes of the rest of the country finally ran into an insurrmountable obstacle - the Pacific Ocean.

That unnecessarily complicates the issue. Let me simplify it.

President Bush won!

There, that's better.
