I had my first carry permit at 21 while I was in college at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa (BAMA!) and I carried on campus all the time! A lot of us in ROTC carried. No rapes or murders or assaults in all that time. At least none of which I'm aware. This was 1978, 79, 80. My permit was good statewide for 3 years and cost me IIRC, about $15.
My girlfriend and I were sitting at a stoplight at midnight one Saturday night in 1979 on our way to her parents place. There was a car in front and a car behind. The next lane over was clear. Suddenly this carload full of the "brothers" (dreadlocks and gold teeth) pulls up and stops next to us. Not to the front of the line, next to us. There must of been about seven guys all pressed up and bulging from the windows of the Pontiac Bonneville. They start making all kinds of crude comments about my girlfriend. Then they start making some specific comments on courses of action to take in the next few moments. I had ignored them, but my girl was getting real nervous now. I said: Relax, the light will change and we'll be gone. But the light didn't change. Then the driver gets out and crosses in front of his car and heads at me. I pulled the S&W M19 .357 from my SafariLand shoulder holster and rested it on the window of the car and calmly remarked: Now, you REALLY don't want to do that! He didn't hesitate, just turned around and got back into his car and took off, running the still red light. The only difference was that there was now nobody to be seen in the car windows, they were all huddled below the line of sight! Screaming.
I told this story the next class day in my criminal justice classes. All the cops present AND the professor made the comment that I shoulda blown the scum across my hood. I'm glad I didn't have to , though. But I was fully prepared to shoot had he continued to advance. The cars in front and behind never saw a thing. Go figure. That's how I learned about spacing between vehicles so that a vehicle can be circumvented in an emergency.
I have heard that BAMA went all PC and changed the rule on campus guns. That would be a shame, if true.
More likely they'd be HAMAS terrorists, since the national front organization for HAMAS is located at nearby Plainfield, Indiana.
As to the question of what these guns are for, the answer is "nothing at all, we hope."
so good, it had to be reposted
I want to ask 6 Million Jews or 10 Million Russians, the entire Indian Nations, under protection of the US Government, or even 2 Million Cambodians what they think about Gun control. After all their government took care of them! Governments are HONEST as long AS you have the we have the ability, guns if needed, to change the leaders!
