Deputy Chief Resigns From CIA Agency Is Said to Be in Turmoil Under New Director Goss.
The deputy director of the CIA resigned yesterday after a series of confrontations over the past week between senior operations officials and CIA Director Porter J. Goss's new chief of staff that have left the agency in turmoil, according to several current and former CIA officials.
John E. McLaughlin, a 32-year CIA veteran who was acting director for two months this summer until Goss took over, resigned after warning Goss that his top aide, former Capitol Hill staff member Patrick Murray, was treating senior officials disrespectfully and risked widespread resignations, the officials said.

John Millis who "committed suicide" was the Staff Director of the House Intelligence Committee.
The new head of the Intelligence Committe became Murray who is now the guy getting rid of the spies at the CIA.
The article on Millis that is linked at post 151 contends that the CIA was involved in moving drugs.
This is a leftist lie and this site is leftist propaganda.
I am beginning to see that this "conservative" site is really promoting leftist propaganda.
Millis, who was the head staff person on the House Intelligence Committee "committed suicide" and then Mr. Murray got the job. Now Mr. Murray is destroying the clandestine service at the CIA.
Yeh the liberal heads are rolling. GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!
CLEAN UP TIME!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the correction, Snapple. I found other info on Hekmatyar. He apparently was a rogue, and I also doubt that the accusations at fromthewilderness.com (FTW) prove that the CIA sanctioned his illicit actions. I was actually interested to see what people would say about it.
I found quite a number of other "interesting" tidbits about Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and the concept of blowback. You would think from the propaganda out there that the Cold War was a little game played between rival ideologues and not for the very soul of the planet. People forget that Stalin and Mao were the epitome of our enemy. Of course we were desperate to defend western freedoms against the most vicious tyrants in history.
Thanks for the info
Bush has put in Goss, and Goss is cleaning house--witness the boohooing on the way out the door.
And now Bush puts Condi in to replace Mr. Nice Guy at State.
The battle rages and the good guys win from time to time; eternal vigilance.
You write: "THE CIA HAS BECOME THE IVORY TOWER FOR LIBERAL ELITE. THE TIME IS LONG GONE TO FLUSH THEM ALL DOWN THE DRAIN."
Kappes was not a member of the liberal elite. He worked his way up in the Marines.
George Bush went to Yale and Harvard, ivory towers for the liberal elite, according to you. So I guess Bush is a liberal.
All this stuff about how the CIA is full of left-wingers is something being fed to you by people who do not like the CIA because it defends this country.
The debate was not about liberal or conservative. It was about whether the war in Iraq was a good idea or not.
Time will tell. I supported it, but the CIA appears to have been right about the fact that it was not going to be easy.
The communists ALWAYS trash the CIA by connecting them to drugs.
The CIA are spies. They will be rubbing shoulders with all kinds of people to get information.
The police say that Millis committed suicide.
I just point out that Murray (the new broom at CIA) got his job.
Millis was critical of the CIA head Deutch. Deutch did get in trouble for some breaches of security.
On his last day in office Clinton pardoned Deutch.
Millis, who had criticized both men, was dead.
Bush went to all the right schools, not Stephen Kappes who came up through the Marines.
Kappes was given really shabby tratment by the White House, and we all all going to pay with blood because Kappes is gone.
Murray is a scum bag mediocrity.
Murray, the new broom at the CIA got Millis' job after he "committed suicide."
Millis used to be the head staffer at the House Intelligence Committee until he "committed suicide" because he was accused of some improprieties.
Then Murray got the staffer position.
Now Murray is Goss' chief at the CIA. Murray is not too respected there. It is not a matter of politics.
Those same folks attempted a bloodless coup of the Bush Presidency. In actuality they should be tried for sedition.
The CIA is part of the Executive Branch. If it poses a threat to the administration then a purge is precisely the right medicine.
