I would like to take this moment to thank ALL the members of The Greatest Generation (born 1901 - 1927) for their service to us. This thank you isn't just for them but for ALL who served this Great Nation!!!
God bless the all who served, and who are now serving. They are the what makes this country great! We owe everything - EVERYTHING - to them!
Quinn and Rose Veterans Day Tribute - especially in the third hour: http://archives.warroom.com/archives.php
It will make your proud and make you cry at the same time.
Yeah, all those 80 year olds out there surfin' the web.
"And here's to the newest Greatest Generation..."
AMEN.
Sorry for the mistakes. I'm all choked up!
I appreciate your sentiments but the greatest generation is the one curently fighting for us.
Thanks for this. Here's to my dad 1921-2003 44 months in the ETO during WW II.
I would like to join you in thanking them!
I had the pleasure tonight of meeting and having dinner with one of those members of the greatest generation, who served in WWII. He is my dad's next door neighbor. He was overseas for 3 years, in France, Germany, and England.
I asked him tonight if he had any stories to tell, and he sort of smiled and said "Oh, you don't want to hear all those stories." Like so many true heroes, he is very humble about it all.
But I pushed him a little, asking him what he did, and found out that he flew planes and dropped soldiers for the Normandy invasion. But his voice grew very sad when he told me that it was his squadron that accidentally dropped many soldiers in the water and they ended up drowning in their parachutes.
He said it was very foggy and they just couldn't see, and they got the order, so they followed it. "It was so sad" he said. I could tell how much it haunts him to this day, even though it was just an awful mistake.
Imagine having to live with that all your life? I have no idea what else this man witnessed or sacrificed, but I now fully understand why they call them the greatest generation.
And those who served in Korea and Vietnam
Take your irrevelant vanity posts and go find another forum to plant them on.
God Bless You.
Is that you? You're one good-lookin' dude. :-)
Here is an 82 year old WW2 vet 'surfin on the web'---don't sell us short, sonny
May God Bless and Keep Safe those in that "hotbox hellhole" of Iraq--every generation of vets have been the "greatest"
There are the great ones in all generations, ie: The Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Spanish American War, as well as every war since - God bless our brave men and women at home and abroad. Their sacrifices for our freedom. I thank them all.
It's a wonderful technology! Possibilities are endless, imho.
